We called in last Sunday as we are looking for an olde english inn for a Xmas stay. On making enquiries with the bar staff he was more than helpful and friendly. We also asked the housekeeper if we could see the rooms and she went above and beyond to show what was available. I commend you for the quality of staff you have

I stayed at The White Hart for one night as a part of a large birthday group

Good points - staff were friendly and helpful, food was good and plentiful, room was big, bed was comfortable and towels were big and soft

Bad points - I stayed in Room 2, supposedly a superior room - but there were spider's webs in 3 places on the cieling, the arm chair was more than well worn and the bathroom a nightmare!

Mould on all walls and on the corners of the shower, the shower shelf to hold your toiletries had fallen off at some distant point and had never been replaced but the holes with the wall plugs were evident, so I had to put shower gel and hair washing things on the floor of a fairly scummy looking shower tray which got even scummier when within 30 second of being in the shower cubicle, it filled up to ankle depth with water - ie the drain was backed up so it would not drian and I was ankle deep in dirty water

YUK!!

Then I went to bed but had the VERY bright hallway light shining into the room from the ill fitting door - has anyone at the White Hart heard of motion sensors that brings the light on when someone comes into the building so one does not have to have the bright hallway light shining in all night? And also do something about he door so the light does not shine in at all!!

Then at 7.30am on a Sunday morning someone started rumaging and banging in the two housekeeping cupboards in the hallway right outside the room door

Just about fell asleep again at 8am, to be woken 20 minutes later by the residents of the room above me

Really bad construction which ensured the squeak of every floorboard, the constant sound of voices the sound of their loo flushing, shower running etc for an hour was so loud that I could not sleep

NOT a happy Sunday morning

Then had the whole experience of standing ankle deep in shower water again

Not a happy camper

Room 1 was occupied by 2 other guests from our party who also had the 7.30am wake up call by the housekeeping staff, and the noise fromt eh badly built room above them

Room Tip: Dont't choose room 1 or 2 - next to the noisy houskeeping cupboards - informt of the all night b...

I was sadly disappointed with my two night stay at this Pub/ hotel, which with a bit of improvement could have been so much better.
firstly, the reception was good and throughout our stay the staff were very pleasant.
I was housed in the ground floor room of what looked like an old Garage or stable block which had been converted into bedrooms.
The room given was small and very tired looking. There was mold around the edges of the windows and bathroom which along with the rest of the room had been badly painted over to cover up its tiredness. This failed.
The room boasted a T.V. Ironing board and iron, tea and coffee making facilities and a hair dryer. Unfortunately the hair dryer did not work which sums up the quality of the room.
The tired old shower in the tired old bathroom in the tired old room was a mere dribble and the shower curtain along with the corners of the bathroom floor were moldy. The fixtures and fittings in this bathroom were also loose.
The beds were comfortable and although we did not get back to our room till after midnight on both nights, we had a quiet nights sleep.
There was a Disco on the Friday night but this stopped at midnight so did not effect us.
The breakfast on both mornings was of a wide choice and excellent, and the service was good.
There was a bad smell of drains in the bar on the Friday evening which forced us to retire to the garden to have our drinks which may have been a problem in the winter months, but luckily for us it was summer and a pleasant evening.
If a bit of money was spent renovating the rooms properly and bringing them up to a standard I would of expected for this quality location, I would happily stay here again, but as it is now, no I would seek another hotel. A Shame really..

First the good things about this hotel. Made welcome on arrival by friendly staff. Very large bedroom in an annex behind the hotel. Comfortable bed, good armchair, space for working. Quiet location as well. Decent good value evening meal, with well-kept beer (this chain is owned by Greene King).
Now the fairly minor faults. Light above desk not quite bright enough. Room rather impersonal - not even a picture on the walls. Shower curtain a bit mouldy at the bottom. Chef hasn't really got the hang of scrambling eggs properly. Coffee at breakfast a bit on the weak side. If not for these small points it would have been very good.

I have now stayed in this hotel every week for a month. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfy. The staff are warm and friendly, we are now on first name terms! I have enjoyed my meals, which are good value for money and if you have a big appetite you will really enjoy the breakfast. Goo Wi Fi via The Cloud. Also a lovely beer garden right outside your bedroom door to enjoy.
Thanks to Stuart and the team.

Room Tip: I have always stayed in the superior rooms, which are very spacious. Number 7 is the quieter room a...

Last minute booking to cut a journey in half and couldn't have picked better! A friendly welcome as soon as we arrived and a well earned pint was had in a lovely bar area served by a friendly and pleasant barman called Mark. We had a good meal there in the evening which was tasty too. Our room was in a little cottage at the back of the pub which was quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good with a good choice. Would definitely stay here again if in the area and will recommend to family and friends.

We had a last minute weekend stay here and loved it. The staff were all helpful, prompt & polite.
Our room was spacious, and we loved the fact that we could wander straight out and sit in the garden. The bed was really comfortable.
Breakfast was great
We loved the surrounding area and look forward to returning again.
