Description: Fight on the riverfront is Cafe Tortuga, a favorite foreigner hangout. This small cafe's charm comes from its attentive staff and simple, good food, including sweet and savory crepes, large sandwiches, soups, avocado stuffed with chicken or cheese, and beef chili. Many come for its yummy and filling breakfasts (served from 7 a.M.), While others come to cool off with an iced coffee, fresh fruit juice or homemade iced tea. There's free WiFi and a book exchange too. Monday-Saturday 7 a.M..-7 P.M., Sunday 7 a.M.-1 P.M.

A nice place to get a good quality dinner, freshly prepared and good options for vegetarians. The place holds a friendly atmosphere and the stuff is helpful and fast. Breakfast is nicely organised with any options you like, from cereals to fresh fruit yougurt and pancakes, and good coffee.

Enjoyed the lunch here on our last day in Tena. Our team had a variety of items off the menu and everyone walked away having nothing but good things to say about their choices. I agree with a number of posts regarding the atmosphere at the restaurant, the food and the people. It is a pleasant and homey place to sit down and enjoy a good meal without the hustle and bustle of the traffic zipping by since it is on the river road off the main road.

We ate at the café Tortuga several times (breakfast and dinner) during our 4 day stay in Tena. It is run by a Swiss lady and the food is more European than local. There is a nice selection of juices, salads, sandwiches etc. Many tourists hang out here before and after rafting. The cafe is close to the rafting agencies, so it is very convenient if you are looking for tours.
As with other restaurants in Tena, Cafe Tortuga closes pretty early, (I think 7.30) for dinner.

Honestly, I didn't much enjoy the town of Tena. However, Cafe Tortuga is a bit of a hidden gem. Everything is made with purified water so there's no need to worry about getting sick. The menu is quite lengthy and there's something to please everyone.

I ate here twice during my four day stay in Tena. The food was very good and reasonably priced. There is also a small book exchange. I would recommend it!
