I was here some years ago in july. So it is some time ago. But i will never forgot this lodge. It was quiet, nice small room with no electricity. The food was good and you can do a lot of excursions (boottrip, walks etc).

Stayed: July 2014, travelled as a couple

We thought we might have chosen second best by being in the secondary rain forest however it meant less expense and travel time and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were made very welcome, the food was outstanding - delicious fresh ingredients beautifully cooked. Alfredo, our Quichua guide was so interesting looked after us very well. I loved the sound of the river from our cabin, and the plants and flowers around. I took malaria tablets and used repellant but barely got a bite - I've been bitten more in my own garden in the UK. An ideal stay for those wanting a jungle experience without a long journey. We made chocolate from cocoa beans and how I wish I could have brought the chef home to cook for me here!

Room Tip: We enjoyed having a river view

we stayed there for two nigths and the rooms weren't as good and clean as expected, the food was okay but it was not value for money. the hotel could do better with more maintenance, the curtain shower was damaged, the towels were old. should I known I wouldn't have gone there...

I believe it's a great lodge to experience the Amazonian rainforests if you don't have enough time to go deeper into the jungle. Say, if you have just day or two or three.
This is very close to Tena, but it is better to stay here rather than in Tena to get a better feel of the jungle. As mentioned before there is no electricity in villas (bring a torch / flashlight). No glass windows, just screens. It's amazing in the night - all the sounds of the jungle - like a concert all night. (But as someone mentioned in the morning you can hear vehicles driving nearby, so you realize you are not that far from civilization). As someone mentioned as well, beds are somewhat short (I am 5'11" / 180 cm, so my feet were hanging in the air).
Yes, it is humid there - clothes and towels won't dry out. But that's rainforest - this is what it's like.
No electricity (though you can charge your devices at the reception), no internet, no TV (only one TV - where guests gathered to watch world cup game). So, more time to enjoy being in the rainforest. I had pretty warm water in the shower. Nice swimming pool as well.

Excursions that they offer daily: walk to the waterfall and tubing on Napo river back to the lodge. I liked this one - although it is not a long walk and it's all secondary forest (re-grown after human disturbance and development in the area), which is, as I understand, less impressive than a primary one.
Excursion in the afternoon is to the local community - Kichwa village. It's a short ride on the canoe. Actually, so short, so it would be easier just to walk there - it's just around the corner from the lodge. It is all staged, I guess, there is no village - just few installations made for tourists where they show you how Kichwa people wash gold in the river, how they cook some food and make ceramic dishes. This one was not very interesting since it's not a visit to a real community in the jungle.

Food is great. Overpriced, yes - but your alternative is to take a taxi and go to Tena ($10 each way). Someone mentioned small portions. Yes, they are not big. But they are sufficient.
Staff is very friendly.

Hot and humid! I guess what do you expect from jungle. It was just such a stark contrast from Quito.

Rooms are rustic but the beds were comfortable. Be prepared for the noise of insects all night long. It 'sort' of lulls you to sleep! Also befriended by a large cockroach in the room. No electricity (be sure to have good flashlights) and really no warm water but with the heat and humidity they were refreshing showers.
The rooms have screens but they are holey. I wore repellent the first night and wished I had done so the second night. The mosquitos ate me alive, and the bites swell and itch for a lot longer than our mosquitos at home. Critters ran across the paths at night and added to the 'jungle feel'.

We got corrected for sitting where we wanted at dinner. It would have been nicer to be able to sit with others and meet people. But food was great!

They are building what looks like a really nice swimming area. Our room was right beside it but they were very respectful and we didnt find it noisy.

They have electricity for charging phones and such but no internet which was fine.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the lodge apparently have better hot water.

No baloney - this is the jungle of the Amazon basin. No electricity in the rooms, very little hot water, and lots of screens that sort of work (take repellent). Great staff, good beer and lots of camaraderie among guests. We pulled tables together and had a wonderful dinner conversation with two women from Switzerland and honeymooners from Chicago. The chef is first rate. He lives across the Napo River and is said to tube back and forth between shifts. You'll get help with your bags, like it or not. Very different from home, pretty much wherever that is.

Room Tip: Get one of the cabins up on stilts down by the Napo. Maybe #19.

This lodge is great! Especially at night when it is lit with lots of candles. There is a generator but i think they chose to keep it minimal impact. The beds were a little short and even i could not really fit in and i am not even 1,80 meters. The lodge lies at the river and is great value for money. The rafting is really easy but nice and outings are great to do! Animal life is reduced to a minimum in this part of the Amazon basin so do not expect too much of that.........It is a great stop if you want to travel via the paramo from Quito to Banos!
