The temple is quite old and of much historical value. There are cows kept in an enclosure near the entrance to the temple and you can feed them after buying cattle feed at the entrance. While most of the temples that we came across in Kumbakonam and the surrounding areas were dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The deity was in sleeping posture. The best part was that when we went there (it was a weekday, non-festival day and around 7.00 PM in the evening), there were very few people in the temple and we could do our darshan very peacefully. The temple is very close to Adi Kumbeswarar temple as well as the main market in Kumbakonam.

“Wonderful temple”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

Please visit during the regular hours else you will have to wait a lot for the temple to be open. Very little information in english. No office or PRO to share information. But beautiful temple architecture. Sri Vijayeendra Swami of kumbakonam (SRS Math, Mantralayam) was a regular visitor and the temple management needs to be grateful to Sri for saving the temple from the hands of advaitins and veerashaivas. closeby to Kumbeshwara temple. In fact Sri had walked on a rope made from plantain tree roots and was connected to the peaks of the 2 temples.
