We stayed at Villa Sumbing Indah for 3 nights. We chose to stay here as it was close to Borobudur and less expensive than other hotels in the area which were listed on Tripadvisor. Our room was the VIP villa for two which came with a living room and dining area, with lovely teak wood furniture. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms but it was cool indoors and we had no trouble sleeping at night. As the room is next to the fields, you will see the occassional frog, lizard and insects in the room but it didn't bother us too much. The swimming pool is right next to the rooms and very close to nature, which makes for a nice swim.

Yanti and her staff were helpful in arranging for transport from the airport and tours to Borobudur and Prambanan. However, the drivers don't speak English so it is best to let Yanti or the English-speaking staff know your requirements and preferences and ask them to communicate this to the drivers.

All in all, it was a comfortable and relaxing stay for us.

I spent a weekend in Jogjakarta and Borobudur May 11 and 12 and stayed overnight at the Villa Sumbing. Yanti and Christophe were extremely friendly in all regards. Helping us to arrange travel to pick us up a the airport, giving us indications to walk in the rice fields (1.5 hours hike we wanted to do) as well getting us a driver to show the temples to us in Borobudur and Jogjakarta. They left nothing to be desired.
And not to be forgotten the food was outstanding and the service very friendly. I can only recommend this for any travellers. There is a lot of value for money and on the food a lot of value full stop. So if you don't want to spend the 450 usd on the number 1 hotel this is the place to be !

Located on a small country road in the midst of rice fields, Sumbing Indah is perfect for those seeking solitude, comfort and local culture. We were here for three days and wished we had booked for a few more days. The accommodation was perfect. The food was good. Nice pool. Great local walks through the rice fields. The day trip to Borobudur was organised for us with an excellent guide, as was a day trip to the Hindu temples at Candi Gedong Songo. The staff are delightful.
The only drawback was the 0430 wake-up calls from the surrounding mosques - but then, when in an Islamic country, you just have to live with this . . . .
Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: All five rooms are great and rooms 1-4 are right at the pool

If you think Ubud is a great place to relax? maybe it is. But you got to come here to experience the whole lots of Indonesian holistic nature, the volcano, the temples, the rice paddy field, the countryside in one place! This is something Ubud doesn't have. It's in a remote area but whose are holidaying in noisy place? It has French resto with variety of Indonesian menu, and Aussie beef! Prices are not expensive. Definitely will visit the place again and recommend friends if they need somewhere relaxing from their busy life.

Room Tip: all rooms are with view and pool is at the door step. Sensational!

Comfortable rooms next to the pool and good food (Indonesian or French if you like).
Christophe and his wife can help organise transport (to the Borobudur), visits, outings (very nice 2-3 hours walk through the ricefields with old Hindu temple on top with spectacular views.
But you can also just cross the road and wander through the sawahs there for fantastics pics of the loomng Sumbing volcanoe or two other volcanoes further afield.
A bit more expensive than other accomodation in Indonesia but completely worth it. Value for money. We were 9, so book in advance, but other just booked the day before.
