“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

I was happily surprised by this place. The rooms are large, the staff is nice and the location perfect to visit Borodudur temple (they organize sunrise tours from a hill nearby and it's very close to Manohara hotel where you can buy ticket to get inside the temple at 4am)

Room Tip: Economy rooms are already huge

Due to lack of budget accommodation in Borobudur, we opted for this one. Room is clean and price decent. View from upstairs terrace faces beautiful paddy fields, great place for breakfast. Generally clean, but furniture in common areas need dusting and rearranging. The boys were very helpful when you needed their service, but there were a couple of them lazing around, it felt like you were staying as part of an extended family as there were children, mothers, etc hanging around. Breakfast was toast and fruits, coffee and tea, wi-fi provided. About 15 minutes walk to Borobudur, 15 minutes walk to Pawon and 30 minutes to Mendut.

Room Tip: You will get woken up by mosques at 430am if you're a light sleeper, keep windows closed if need...

Stayed 1 night at Lotus 2. great location - just a short walk away from Borobordur temple. Very friendly and attentive staff - thank you Jack and Golan! Room was very large and spacious - might want to try fixing up the door to the room though.

People should definitely consider spending the night in Borobordur though and not just taking a bus in from Yogya in the morning. I had a lovely afternoon cycling through the villages around Borobordur.

Stayed there for one night in order to be early at the temple. Was by myself and got the big room on the first floor. At 225000 IDR expensive for a solo traveller and for what you get, but they were not in a bargaining mood despite the fact that it was late... I have heard that the other options in town are not that nice, but I didn't check it by myself. Would be good value for 3 or more people. It is on a noisy street, not for light sleepers. The people at the hostel are very friendly and helpful, and the temple is only a 10-minute walk away.

We loved staying here! The staff was amazing and helped us plan a very successful stay in Borobudur. The coffee was AMAZING and they went above and beyond to serve us. We mostly enjoyed hanging out and chatting with Eric and Goland during our free time :) We had an upstairs room and it was lovely, request those!!

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have great rice terrace views and lots of space :)

The guest house is only 15 minutes walk from the famous temple, staff are great and organised a sunrise trip to see the sun rise over the temple, we were up at 4am! Such great people. They really need to clean the place though, there were huge ants everywhere, cobwebs that were years old, don;t think the furniture had ever been wiped down since it was put there ten years ago. Pity. The main mosque of the town is just across the rice fields at the back of the guest house which can easily wake you up at the crack of dawn, take ear plugs :-)
They also organised a rafting trip for us which was great fun. Only about 20 minute drive from the guest house. There is no wifi in the room, you need to be close to reception for that. You get a voucher for a discount to the temple entrance, apparently all accomodation in the area gives this out. It's 15% off the ticket so you pay 187,000 instead of 220,000 for a day's entrance.
The mosque 'noise' is on from 4.30 till 8am on a Sunday, so if you can, avoid Sundays. Wish we did!
The room was very dark, not enough lighting in the room, and only one power point to charge mobile phones, batteries, etc.

I stayed 3 nights as I was there over Christmas. It's a short walk to Borobudur so the 6am start is easy. Took an oyek ride into the local villages to see tofu, ceramics and batik being made. There's several good street food stalls in the vicinity and the staff are great.

Room Tip: There's two room overlooking the rice fields and one with a big verandah at the front - upstairs...
