What a great event and one which is in the diary for future years. Celebrity chefs cooking; wine tasting very interesting and a huge variety of local foods. A hot summer's day - it was perfect

First the good points:-

1. Glynde Place is a charming Elizabethan manor house in a sublime setting below the South Downs with a (mostly) Georgian interior.

2. At £5.00 per adult, entry fee is very reasonable compared to many.

but

3. Very little of the interior is open (just 4 rooms plus two staircases - not even all of the 6 rooms illustrated in the guide book.)

4.The rooms on view feel musty and uncared for - the family obviously live in the other half of the house that the visitor doesn't see and the show rooms feel like furniture repositories for the pieces they don't want.

5. This means that the most important artwork in the house is also off the tour route.

6. More than an hour to see so little is way too long. The guide was long-winded in the extreme and by no means all the information imparted was accurate.

7. The gardens to the north and west of the house were also off-limits to the paying public so really very little to do while you hang around waiting for the hourly guided tour to kick off.

Overall verdict - good in parts but need to get their act together. More open or shorter tour.
