I stayed here for a 2 night stay in October 2013. The hotel is ok, but could do with a bit if maintenance and upgrading to be a half-decent 4* - was more like a reasonable 3*. It was quite busy when I was there (half term holidays) and breakfast staff seemed over-stretched.

My main issue (and warning) is the speed bumps at all entrances to the car park. My car "grounded" on every single one of them, causing over £300 damage to the undertray. According to the management, the speed bumps are "legal" and no-one else has complained but, as there is nowhere else to park and the speed bumps are at every entrance and also in between sections, of the car park, it is impossible to park a car without it being damaged. When I arrived and parked up, the receptionist told me that he had heard the same thing from lots of people.

There was nothing special about this hotel, so I won't be staying again. I wouldn't want to risk damaging my car again.

Avoid unless you have a 4x4.

Just one night stopover, usual type of McDonalds hotel. Room fine, breakfast great. Very busy but to be expected. Not a lot of choice on the bar menu in the evening when we arrived and too tired to bother to go to restaurant.

I have visited this hidden gem of a hotel twice in the last year, on both accounts for visiting Peppa Pig World nearby with my daughter and wife. I am constantly impressed by the way this hotel caters to the customers every wim.
The positivity from the staff impacts upon you upon check in, when reception go out of their way to welcome you, and to ensure your child gets the 'peppa pig check in'. The rooms are spacious, light, great temperature, with very fine attention paid to detail and decor. You will be hard pressed to find fault in any of the rooms, as they are exceptionally clean and well maintained.
Situated some 15-20 mins drive from Paultons Park, the indoor pool is also fantastic and a welcome break before or after returning from a day out. But its not the hotel, environment, rooms or general ambience which makes this hotel so attractive to any traveller; wether it be family, business or leisure.
The real gem of this hotel is its staff. Friendly, professional, always smiling, and cannot do enough for you in a not overpowering way that you may find in other pretentious big brand hotels. Each and every staff member is better than the previous, and the high levels of service are consistent throughout the hotel. Hotels sometimes spend so much time considering OTT gestures, that it is perhaps forgotten that the simple basics of service are perhaps the most memorable reasons for repeated business. At Macdonald Botley, this is not forgotten, and regardless of who you are and why you are there, you will be treated like royalty.
The only area for improvement that I would suggest for this hotel (and it is only a suggestion and not a complaint!), is that its food and drinks prices need to be reconsidered. Food is pricey here, as is the bar prices (£5 for a large bottle of water, £4.65 for a pint of heineken), but other than that, I cannot fault this place. We have been here twice, and will continue coming back; for no other reason other than the service we get here is beyond compare and truly comes head and shoulders above all other local competitors. You truly get what you pay for, and there are some cracking deals going at this place if you plan your visit in advance.

Parents if you are looking for a hotel near peppa pig, look no further. It has everything you need for your little ones and then some. Dont let the food and drinks prices put you off, there are plenty of alternatives around the local area if fine dining isnt for you:)

Thank you Macdonald Botley; well worth every penny, the stuff that travel dreams are made of.

Really nice hotel. Our room was spotless, warm with a really comfortable bed. The staff were polite, attentive & really helpful. My main complaint was charging us £15.00 for 2 gin & tonics, rip off. My husband & I drove to the local co op bought 2 bottles of wine & half a bottle of gin for the same price so if you want my advice bring your own drink . Shame though coz the breakfast was amazing, lots of choice. The free wi fi was a bonus great extra. On the whole a really pleasant stay.

Thank you for your comments regarding the facilities at Botley Park.

I am very sorry that you did not think the beverage prices are value for money.

We do aim to provide a full experience with table service , nibbles and quality products in our hotel bar but also have a more relaxed
environment in our golf bar.

This hotel has really declined in relation to the leisure facilities. The pool area is dirty, the pool is unlit, looks green and is cold. The changing rooms have minimal working lockers to secure items, only one hair dryer and no cups for the water machine. They are also dirty and have an offensive smell. This hotel was excellent years ago and is not even a 3 star at present. It is very disappointing and the staff are not really bothered what the clients think in the leisure area. The golf bar used to very pleasant after a workout and swim, but it has been closed every time that we have visited lately. What a shame - a lovely hotel with potential has become such a disappointment. I would recommend that you look at other hotels if you are interested in spa facilities which have become much less than a 3 star rating as they have declined rapidly.

We stayed for a weekend and were immediately impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the receptionist, who could not have been more accommodating when we bombarded him with various requests. The room itself was clean and comfortable with an excellent coffee machine, large fridge, ironing facilities and toiletries and free wi-fi via The Cloud. The beds were comfortable and the heating / air con was swiftly responsive. I would have liked a safe and wardrobe doors that didn't keep falling off.

The room and hotel furnishings were clean and comfortable but a little drab. The gym was tiny and the pool was rather small so I did not use it. We ate dinner in the restaurant one night and the bar on the other. We preferred the latter but this may be because it was better for vegetarians. Breakfast was great - ordered individually from waiter- apart from the bitter coffee and dreadful vegetarian sausages. All staff we encountered were wonderfully flexible, friendly, respectful and warm. We had the B&B and dinner deal and thought it great value.
