I stayed for 3 nights. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Sunday was good as there were hardly any other guests. But neither the bar nor restaurant was open.
Monday and Tuesday were poor. I had asked for a quiet room, but there are no quiet rooms. The walls are paper thin - who build's these places?
The rooms are also dated and appear poorly maintained. Sizewise, they are ok for singles, but would be cramped for 2 people.

The staff - if you can find any, are very friendly.

I wouldn't return.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep - stay elsewhere.

My husband and I were looking for a reasonably priced bed for the night, that was closer to Heathrow than were we had been visiting family up north. We also liked being in a smaller town and close to the Thames. Moor Hall delivered on all fronts. Nothing fancy, but the room was quiet, though on the small size for two people. And have double beds shrunk, or are we just used to queen size now? There was a good selection at Breakfast, and the dining room provided a good view over the grounds. The complex does sprawl, with a bit of an adventure finding our way through the connecting buildings, but nothing we could not figure out!

Stayed here recently for a training course that took place in one of Moorhall's conference rooms. The food was lovely (breakfast, lunch and evening meal). Remembering this is a conference centre rather than a hotel, the centre appeared to be well equiped for our training needs, even with tea/coffee/biscuits/fruit available for our breaktimes. Selection of food available in the restaurant was very pleasing - lots of choice and good selection.

The bedrooms, as mentioned in previous reviews, are dated, but very clean - a double bed, wardrobe, desk and tea/coffee making facilities - and a quirkiness in the TV being in the top of the wardrobe and the kettle in the drawer of the desk did make me chuckle - to be honest, the bedroom is clean, tidy and well equiped for my 2 night stay - the tea/coffee and shower/shampoo were replenshed daily as were the towels. As I was not here to examine the standards or fashion of decor, the room met my requirements quite comfortably.
The staff were very helpful, both on reception and in the restaurant especially when I couldn't get my wifi to connect.

The bar area is again well kept, available for tea/coffee througout the day (if you arrive early), pool table and in the summer months the patio area also has Connect 4 and giant chess for those "team-bonding" after-training moments.

I am looking forward to my next training course there later in the year.

Room Tip: rooms next to the entry-doors into the corridor can be noisy depending on the number of people stayi...

Attended a function at Moor Hall with Dinner in their Edinburgh Restaurant.
The meal was not at all good.
Usual poor cooking, quality & presentation that you seem to get at a lot of these function dinners these days, with the obligatory Head Waiter directing where the waiting staff have to serve the plates to the tables. Surely it is their job to make sure that the food coming out of the kitchen is of a high standard ?

Would be good to get the Chefs, or rather Cooks, at these Venues to swop places with you and for them to pay your ticket price and see how they would like being served the food they are expecting you to eat!!!!
Tasteless cold starter with mozzarella cheese -0/10
Main course of beef looked pale and unappetising, served with mash.
The carrots & mange tout that were served in a dish to the table were cold ! -5/10
An "iced chocolate parfait" dessert that was nearly melted when served! 2/10.
The room was cold,as there are a lot of floor to ceiling windows and it was a rainy, cold evening.
Would not return here

I have just spent 2 nights at the Moor Hall and i think i was the only guest. The complex has the feel of a hospital with various building spread out around a central courtyard. The rooms are like every one else has discribed and are dated to be honest. The corridor smells musty, a bit like an old caravan in the middle of summer with the windows shut.

I did not sample the Breakfast as i had been working nights. I was a little supprised to find that checkout is at 9.30am. This is really handy if you dont get back from work till 2am........

location of Cookham is lovely and if they wanted to they could make it a great hotel for guests, however they would need to spend alot of ££££££ to do so.

staff we friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: go to the crown plaza.

The grounds of the conference centre and couple of lovely pubs in Cookham were the up side of the facility. The bid downfall are the rooms. It was the smallest room I've ever stayed in. My husband came along and they charged us extra money for the second person although the room wasn't big enough for even one. The deco is very retro but only becasue the funriture or bed sheets have been there since 1949 (or at least thta's how they present themselves). I remeber the room being very very hot which made the sleeping impossible. Overall I wouldn't go back eunless I had to. I also remeber the food being just bereable.

Room Tip: I'mm afraid all rooms are the same

Firstly let me say for business facilities and location this is really good.

However the rooms are so bad. Double bed squeezed into corner of the room without room for even a bed side cabinet. The 1980's TV in some weird looking cupboard.

The worst thing though was the bed linen with old brown fluffy blanket and sheet and an uncomfortable bed.

I certainly will not stay there again out of choice.
