Having been to this establishment on a number of occasions i have found food and staff very high standards. And on looking at new suite's i must say they are very underpriced, Will come back again as was made very welcome.

It has changed somewhat from my drinking days in the early 90s but definitely for the better!

We (3 adults and 3 children) had a great lunch there yesterday. Lovely menu, quick service of good fresh food, the decor is lovely and the staff were great too.

Had it been nice weather we could have sat outside on the Moor but the inside is snug and comfy.

This sustained us for a great day in beautiful Cookham.

My wife and I, 55-65 age group, stayed for four nights at The Crown.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The room, in modern block detached from the main building, was clean, comfortable, and sufficiently spacious. Some lovely hanging baskets outside the front door added a bright touch.

Breakfasts were freshly cooked with extremely good quality ingredients sourced locally. Fresh fruit was available on request. The only downside was that everything had to be asked for, so it made things a little 'bitty'.

We ate in on two nights and were very happy to do so. The food was very good indeed and reasonably priced.

The staff were unfailingly cheerful and helpful.

The location is on the edge of Cookham and was very quiet at night. (Once or twice the bar was a bit noisy but after hours all was still.)

If we are in the area again, we will be very happy to stay at The Crown.

Came his the mrs and a few friends after a friend recommended it and we weren't disappointed! The food was some of the best I've been served in a pub and the service was excellent! If you do go here please try the 3 little pigs main course it's simply food heaven and I couldn't really choose between the selection of desserts we shared as they were all delicious!

Booked to stay for one night directly with the Crown a few weeks ago as we're trying out possible venues for a Christmas party with a group of friends. The lunchtime of the day of arrival we received a phone call from the Crown informing us that they were overbooked and could we stay in another accomodation in the village (I wish we had done), we were furious and explained the purpose of our visit.
When we arrived the pub was very busy as the weather was good and is in an ideal location for alfresco dining. We were taken to our room and first impressions was disappointing as the room was quite small, smelly and there was a used showering product, rubbish and dirty nappy in the bathroom, also the main light in the bedroom didn't work, there was only one cup and saucer and the glasses were wet and just left to dry upside down, the room generally looked grubby.
The evening meal was good but the service was poor, we ordered coffee which didn't turn up, after enquiring after our coffee we were told the coffee machine was broken so there was no tea/coffee facilities in the bar area, we were not told when first ordered.
That was really the last straw so we got a full refund on the room (£95) and 10% off the food bill as a token gesture and went home.
It was difficult to see who was in charge as it seemed to be run by young adults without much experience.
I think this should be better managed, on reading other reviews it may depend on who's in charge at the time.
I don't think this deserves it's 4* Inn rating and is certainly not worth £95 B&B judging by the room, somebody needs to get a grip of the situation and take control.

Room Tip: Don't bother with room 7.

went to the crown for sunday lunch which was a complete pleasure from start to finish, we started with drinks outside whilst we waited for a free table as there were 7 of us, the staff were all extremely welcoming and even took order for drinks from outside ! the food menu offers variety for all . when the food arrived it all came together so there was no waiting about . it was presented well and was delicious. the waiting staff couldnt be more helpfull and everything was cleared in a good timely manner. we were then offererd desert and cheese board, As it was so nice we decieded to return outside to the garden and enjoy another drink !
we didnt book any rooms , however if we were to return again and needed somewhere for the night this would definately be a choice for us
