A year on from last visit, this pub has plummetted even further. There must be a hidden agenda. Delightful young girl welcomed us to a totally empty (apart from two ancient men, one of whom was fast asleep) pub, very cold and feeling damp. Our bar lunch was totally satisfactory, but our voices echoed around the vast empty space. And our visit to the Ladies was like walking back in time to a tacky 1940's hotel (I imagine, not being old enough to have done this) - you have to pay a visit just to see the loos!! We concluded that the owner/manager must be running this place down for financial/other reasons, and according to the girl on duty he refuses to come out from the kitchen or to respond to criticism on TA.
This could be a GOLDMINE - what a waste of a beautiful building in a stunning location. Hate to say it, but don't waste your time, you will come away depressed.
