Description: This unspoiled, traditional 16th century Free House is located at the foot of the Chilterns. Ideal for combining a beautiful scenic walk with refreshment. The original low oak beams and large open fire make it a frequent feature in Midsomer Murders and other TV series. There is a spacious garden and seating on the village green from where the steam train of the Chinnor/Prince Risborough private railway can be seen. The pub is CAMRA listed and has a good range of real ales often including Wadworth, Loddon, Tring and Burton Bridge, alongside ever changing local beers. The separate dining room is ideal for private functions.

I use this pub from time to time. A great village pub that attracts walkers from the Ridgeway track and others passing by. Worth a stop. Dogs welcome as well if you walk your dog.

This is an atmospheric village pub with low wooden beams, good home-cooked food, and real ales. The coffee is also notable. I didn't want a full meal, but enjoyed a bowl of piping hot minestrone soup, very tasty and packed with an unusual variety of vegetables. It came with fresh crusty bread and butter, and I washed it all down with a glass of cider. Prices were about average for an expensive area, and service was reasonably quick. A good place to linger with mates or family, but you have to leave muddy boots outside.

A group of us enjoyed a variety of dishes here, everyone enjoyed the food, the beer and the log burner, which kept us nice and warm after our 5 mile walk.

An old style country pub with first rate pub grub. The staff made us very welcome, and were particularly helpful when it came to looking after the dog. We had walked to the pub, as others obviously had, and the warm welcome was extended to the dog who was brought a bowl of water and a biscuit. We had a very good three course pub meal; deep fried brie and king prawn starters; cottage pie, salmon fishcake and moussaka main course; apple lattice pie, rhubarb crumble and toffee sponge for pud. There was a good, but not extensive, menu of pub grub, with sensible prices. Service was efficient, but not quick, despite being very busy - it was Saturday lunchtime. The food was well prepared, hot and well presented by cheerful, friendly and welcoming staff. Portions were generous, without being too big. Everything was clean and well looked after. We are all keen to go back another day. This is a pub for families, walkers and people with dogs looking for a country pub. It is not trying to be a bistro or wine bar - thank goodness!

The Lions at Bledlow. Freezing cold day so what could be better than a brisk walk to a nice pub followed by a warming, hearty meal and a good pint. Been before so knew what to expect. The pub was cold. Only one person serving behind the bar who seemed to be coping, but was also taking food orders. Food. Neither of the veggie options available... Once the food came sadly it seemed parts had been warmed in a microwave (sausages, mash). Melon with your salad anyone? Bizarre. Plates were not cleared before puddings were served... All in all more than a little disappointing.
