Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: The Horse Trust, Home of Rest for Horses is set in 200 acres of beautiful Chiltern countryside between High Wycombe and Aylesbury, just outside Princes Risborough. Our Home of Rest for Horses is at the heart of our charity. It is here that we care for over 100 retired and rescued horses, ponies and donkeys. Visit us to see our retired working horses - from the Police and Military who have spent a lifetime serving our country or communities, to the ponies who have helped improve the lives of disabled or disadvantaged children. Meet the rescued horses, ponies and donkeys who have found sanctuary with us after suffering from cruelty or neglect. Visit our museum to find out how we helped War Horses in World War 1, take a walk around the farm to see the horses grazing in their fields or visit our Black Beauty Tea Room and gift shop to enjoy a cream tea. We look forward to meeting you!

“Especially for girls - but not boring for anyone else.”

I took my Grand-children here today in glorious sunshine. A charge of £3 per car was cheap. My Grand-daughter loved stroking all the retired horses and being allowed to groom a small shetland pony (£1 extra). A relaxing place in a very quiet Buckinghamshire Valley. I'm not into horses but I found the History of each horse interesting. Most have retired from Police or even Royal Duties, - and are well looked after in Retirement. The centre was alive with Swallows and House Martins as well, and the Cafe was cheap (£3.00 for a pot of tea for 2) in an attractively converted old barn. Excellent Toilets. No-one was bored, not even my 10 year old Grand-son.

“Wonderful Horse Sanctuary”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

This is the most amazing place. The majority of the horses here are retired police or army horses. Although the Trust is only open only limited days and hours it is absolutely worth a visit and indeed supporting the Trust. The grounds are beautiful and immaculate. The horse will live out their days at The Trust well cared for and happy with the wonderful caring staff who look after them. It is real Black Beauty stuff! Visit .. if you love horses you will not be disappointed. Have a look at the website.
