We stayed for one night for leisure visits in the area and Bed and Breakfast is good value. But the Hotel seems to have an identity problem. The staff are all very friendly, efficient and keen to help. We had dinner which was good value including the wine although the glasses of Prosecco we had as aperitifs were noticeably flat and we guess they were taken from a bottle which had been retained from having been opened a previous day. But we were on holiday and made no fuss.
Why say "A Mixture"? Taking the restaurant as an example it has been given a tasteful modern look but not gone the whole way: the carpet is definitely 1950/1060s with colourful regular patterning and spoils the look; by our table was a very modern abstract painting but put in a Victorian looking gold coloured frame; all very incongruous. Finish the makeover!
Similar comments apply to the accommodation which for us was across the courtyard; a very comfortable room but again very modern unframed pictures put on traditional patterned wall papered walls. It looked as if the pictures had turned up as a job lot from another building in the owners group. And the stairs and landings again tastefully painted walls and woodwork but old fashioned floral carpet everywhere.More
