I wouldn't normally do something like this, but I read some of the reviews for Coconuts on this website a couple of times, and quite frankly was a bit worried about it. So i thought I would write the truth about this amazing place.
My husband & I travelled to Samoa for our belated honeymoon (5years late!) it was our first overseas trip together & we had high hopes for a relaxing get away to a non-commercialised resort somewhere not many people go.
We arrived at Coconuts & were greeted by the nicest people, & given a cocktail welcome drink - very nice! Our room wasn't quite ready so we took a walk around the resort while we sipped on out pinacolada's. We were blown away by the craftmanship & beauty of all the fale's. There is a huge room behind reception where there are big couches & chairs, and where you watch old movies every second night. after a short wait we were taken to our treehouse room, we were on the top level (room 7) & had the most amazing view to the beach & over the new water development to the pool. it was really clean & fresh with cool air conditioning (thank goodness!!) The rooms have all been renovated recently & have polished floors & built by local materials to make a stunning room. They have all this weaving around any joins in the wood, its so amazing - they were doing some there when we were there & it takes for ever! but it all looks the same. quite impressive.
We went straight the resturant for lunch, & oh my goodness, what an amazing menu - there is heaps of selection, & because we had the meal deal, we didn't have to look at the prices & could eat anything. All of our meals were mind blowing & there is no shortage of selection for dinner either. Vailima beer is great & all the wine I had was great too. The service was fast & with a smile, they never let your glass get empty so you got value for money with the meal plan. There was one waitress there (Lanu) who was so funny - she had loads of stories & told us the great places to go. She was a machine at making cocktails at happy hour!!
We hired a car for a day to travelto Apia to the markets, made an intersting ride as its all on the opposite side for us kiwi's. Apia was bout 30mins away cause the speed limit is 50km/hr all through the island.
I also had a massage at the spa - oh my goodness it was sooo gooood! They are such nice people, & every time you pass one, they greet you with a smile - you just don't get that at home!
We stayed for 6nights & loved it so much. We will definately be going back next year!!
