“Fantastic Setting”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

The setting of this hotel is stunning, with views of the estuary and the hills. The hotel itself is a lovely nineteenth century house with some fine stained glass. It describes itself as a restaurant with rooms and that's pretty much what it is. Downstairs in the main building are large open spaces obviously suited for large gatherings but not for informal seating for guests, though you can sit on the terrace. Some rooms must have great views; unfortunately, in ours we couldn't get a good view of the estuary. The restaurant is in a separate building and also doesn't really take advantage of the views. We had an excellent meal here though, choosing the £12.50 daily meat and fish specials. The mullet was the best I've ever had and there was a choice of two ways of serving it; I had it in batter as posh fish and chips. They also have local cider from Carmarthen. In view of this high standard of cooking, breakfast was a little disappointing, with no real alternative to a cooked breakfast, just cereal and orange juice, no yogurt, fruit or pastries. On the whole it was a good place to stay in a lovely area. Payment for accommodation is asked for in advance. No lifts.

Room Tip: Rooms with numbers higher than 2 probably have a view of the estuary.

Worth staying here just for the view & peace & quite. They are renovating the rooms, but still thought it was worth the stay. Very helpful staff & management team. We were there overnight, for Sunday lunch with friends. Great setting & beautiful gardens & view. Peaceful & relaxing.

I dont usually write reviews on hotels but felt after staying at tr mansion house it was a must!!
Absolutely stunning views over the estuary and a great place to wander about and take it all in!
After meeting david when we first arrived we were instantly.impressed with his relaxed but professional welcome...offering to take our bags to our room and sorting 2 single rooms for 2 other guests in our party after we had accidently booked them a double!
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and taking the time to get to know there guests individually was a hit in my books!
The rooms are spacious and bright and the beds are like sleeping on a cloud!
Lovely breakfast in the morning...unfortunately didnt sample the evening menu as we were attending a wedding.
Very quiet,relaxed and peaceful.
Was great to.meet david and his team and was a pleasure to stay there!

We recently celebrated a friends wedding reception at the Pantyrathro and everyone had a fantastic time.

The big day went to plan, the owners Wendy and David made everyone welcome, the catering was first class and we danced the night away.

Set in five acres of gardens this 200 year old Mansion House is the ideal venue for a wedding and the views across the Towy estuary provide a stunning backdrop for the wedding photographs.

We didn't stay overnight but being nosey we looked at several of the rooms and they were all very impressive especially those with estuary views.

It is worth mentioning that the stairs were quite steep, but that's what you expect in a property of this period.

We enjoyed ourselves so much that we have since been back twice. Once for Sunday Lunch (£17.50 for 3 courses and coffee) and being local, we took advantage of their summer restaurant deal that is available Monday to Thursday evenings when we sampled fresh local fish for just £12.

The resident chef Anwen makes the most of fresh local produce, they have an affordable wine list and a very good Cornish bitter called 'Doombar'.

Highly recommended.

Tip: Be sure to visit Llansteffan Castle whilst you are in the area.

A wonderful setting for a wedding and reception. The views were fantastic. The main building and gardens were very nice with ample room for the marque in the grounds. The food was very good throughout the day (excellent cheese board) from the main meal to the buffet to the late evening snacks. The old fashioned sweet table was very popular as was the traditional ice cream van. The service was quick and efficient with a big well done to the girls that worked the indoor bar which was busy all day. I can recommend the House Prosecco. An all round good day with a spectacular fireworks display to finish.

We stayed for 2 nights as a family to celebrate my mums birthday. Lovely welcome by Dave & Wendy, very nice people, they were great and their son was great company for my son. The staff were friendly & helpful too.
Beautiful surroundings, very comfortable stay. I stayed in the family room, which was spacious, light & airy.
We eat at the hotel both evenings and also stayed for mothering Sunday lunch. The food was very tasty and was stunningly presented, could not fault it!
Will be visiting again this year, enjoyed by all. : )
