“Majestic scenery, Crystal clear waters, and professional Guides!”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

We went for the early bird special in June, a great price and the water was moving quick! We were instantly impressed upon arrival with coffee, tea and delicious cookies. After loading up our gear we headed to the lardeau river. Both Oliver and Tamara were very informative of the rural area of British Columbia. They told us of Grizzly bears and cubs populating the area as well as conservation of the surroundings. The river itself was so fresh and clean with a mellow gradient meandering through the wilderness of B.C. We hit some nice rapid sections even in early season which was quite exhilarating. We stopped for for a nice lunch on the banks of the river and continued on for the second half of the trip. Oliver had many good stories of his extensive rafting experience. Tamara was waiting on some key bridges over the river and took some great photos that she later provided us with via dropbox online. If you are looking for an wilderness experience in a rural, rustic mountain setting you will not be disappointed! We are already planning to go again in the later season. A must do!

“One of a kind AMAZING!”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Arriving at Lardeau River Adventures we were warmly welcomed by the owner/operators Oly and Tamara with bright smiles, friendly introductions along with homemade refreshments. Lardeau River Adventures office is open& bright with beautifully framed photos of wild life and river shots displayed on the walls. The office space is clean and tidy with some chairs to lounge on and a spacious clean washroom.

Our group was shuttled by Oly and Tamara to the drop site where we were fitted with life jackets and helmets that are all new this season! Oly gave us our river safety talk empowering us to be successful on the raft and in the river. Make no mistake, this river guide doesn't mess around with water safety he is top notch! The river is spectacular! I urge you to come and experience it for yourself. There are calm sections with safe swimming opportunities offered at the discretion of the guide, there are exciting get soaked white water waves. While on the raft you will be gifted with Oly's passion for the river, the ecosystem and his quick witted playfulness while piloting the raft.

Lunch is a wonderful treat. A riverside picnic with home grown veggies and a tasty menu to accommodate your dietary needs. There is no lack of cool drinks to stay hydrated too. After lunch prepare for the brilliant "Grey Horse Falls" this is a waterfall you will experience only with your eyes. This waterfall is accessible by raft and 'WOW' will likely fall from your lips.

Last, bring clothing you can get wet in and also wear water shoes. Bring a towel and a dry change of clothes. Sun screen, sun shirts and a hat are a good idea. Wet suits are good for children. This is an all day adventure so plan for snacks and drinks after. Although there is water provided after the take out when the raft adventure is over.

This is an adventure for friends and families alike to share with one of a kind amazing, genuine down to earth humans. The memories will last a life time and I look forward to the next adventure!

“So much more than expected!”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Just spent a day with family and friends rafting 32km of the Lardeau River. Everyone had a great time. This is a Class II trip with more thrills than expected. Just the right amount of action for first timers and kids. It helped that the day was sunny and very hot, but nonetheless no need for a wetsuit. Our hosts were Oly and Tamara. These folks are pros. Friendly welcome, thorough but not too lengthy safety brief, great people skills (know how to deal with kids too). Our time on the river was filled with learning about rafting and rafting skills (Oly has guided all over the world), learning about the ecology and the history of the valley, lots of humour and the odd splashy surprise. Great river, valley, mountain views. Tamara's lunch (included) was plentiful and presented with care (she did special individual lunch boxes for the kids including cloth napkins and edible flowers from her garden). Looking for a family friendly, active, same day activity in the West Kootenay? Check these guys out. We loved our experience.

Hey! Thank you so much for the review. I'm not sure who should be reviewing who here but we had a lot of fun sharing the river with your group! A wonderful mix of power paddlers and shrieking young ones! We are privileged to do what we do and to share it with those with a similar outlook is most rewarding. Thanks again! Oly and Tamara.

“First Class Operation!”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

I don't think you could choose a better way to spend a day in the West Kootenays. I did it on a recent hot July day with my 12 and 15 year old kiddies. We all agreed it was a blast. Oliver and Tamara are very professional and genuine. Their experience, energy, and desire to show guests a good time makes the deal. All equipment (raft, PFDs, helmets, etc) is brand new, and their commitment to provide a safe and sustainable experience is clear. The scenery on the river is simply great. I'm born and raised in BC and thought I seen it all before...but the views of snow capped mountains, forested hills, clear fast running water, and wildlife (ok only butterflies for us, but I knew the bears were just lurking in the shadows) blew me away. For thrills, there was more than enough whitewater to keep us wet and refreshed. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for an more intimate rafting experience, but think families in particular should consider this one.

“Incredible! ”
Reviewed 8 July 2014 via mobile

Quite simply one of the best experiences ever.

This was our first ever whitewater rafting experience and it was something that will stay with us for life.

From the moment we arrived at the Lardeau River Adventures Meadow Creek base, we were warmly greeted by smiles, friendly introductions and freshly baked banana bread and hot coffee/tea!

From there, we made our way to our starting point, were given a lesson on rafting as well as safety precautions in the unlikely event that any of us were to go overboard. If like us, you are a little nervous because you had never done rafting before, dont be; you are in very good hands.

It was a spectacular sunny day; the water was beautiful; and the 32km rafting through the river was the perfect way to see and appreciate the beautiful Goat Range Provincial Park. Half way through the journey, we also made a brief stop for some lunch that was prepared for us. It was quality.

As we approached the end of our 32 km journey, I honestly did not want to get out of the raft. The experience was that good!

Oliver and Tamara, thanks for making our first whitewater experience one to remember. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience, and passion for what is quite simply one of the most beautiful parts of the world.
