Chantli Mare Inn by the Sea
Certificate of Excellence

Chantli Mare...is spectacular and has now become our second home - not only because we have visited more than once but because hosts Roberto and Ibette, Chef Greg and all the staff make you feel like part of the family. Top this with the most fantastic location - a quiet beach; stunning sunsets; exquiste, contemporary and perfectly appointed accommodation, outrageous food! - beautifully and personally prepared AND warm and welcoming local culture and you find yourself in what has to be one of Mexico's best experiences.

There is not one thing that will disappoint; rather, this is a trip to a wonderful place that leaves you feeling not only that you have just received incredible value but you have received true hospitality - friendship and a welcoming trip back. -- can't wait.

Room Tip: All rooms are perfectly appointed in this boutique hotel

An amazing trip with other couples to a beautiful boutique hotel, made more special by hosts Roberto and Ibette. Chef Greg, you are the BEST! Some of the most delicious meals ever eaten! We were so fortunate to have met some great locals who stopped by Chantli Mare for lunches and got our group invited to other homes for more hospitality and adventure. La Manzanillo is a wonderful, quaint town. Loved going to the local coffee shop right near the church and square (served by Hector) and then to Palapa Joes for a beer. The beach is the best in the area for long walks to town and great waves to swim in.

This is an amazing boutique hotel on a quiet beach, probably one of the best beaches in the La Manzanilla area, which is an easy 45 min. walk on the beach. The friendliness of the owners, Roberto & Ibett make you feel you are in their home. They will do everything possible to make your stay the best possible. On top of that their chef Greg Couillard, formally of Toronto, prepares meals you would not expect to find in this location. They are very successful at achieving their motto. "Arrive a guest and leave a friend". We have been there twice and look forward to returning next year.

I went to Chantli Mare on March with my friends and we loved it. The place and staff make you feel like home with their excellent service and warm embrace. The food offered by the restautant is spectacular, I've never tasted cooking like that.

Chantli Mare is a beautiful boutique hotel on the beach at Boca des Iguanas, just north of the little Mexican town of La Manzanilla. The setting is unparalleled, in the middle of a spectacular, miles-long stretch of clean sand beach beginning in the town of La Manzanilla (to which you can walk along the beach in about 45 minutes). The water is warm and welcoming, part of a large protected bay, so the waves are gentle. The hotel has a restaurant headed by Chef Greg Couillard, of Toronto restaurant fame (The Parrot, Stelle, Spice Room and China Blues), so the food is outstanding (but served at Mexican prices, not Toronto prices, so it is an unbelievable bargain—think duck confit with a mixed berry sauce, rice and mixed vegetables for about $20!). The food is not the only outstanding aspect of Chantli Mare, however. The service is also stellar—the staff are all friendly and constantly checking to be sure “Everything is alright?” and owners Yvette and Roberto will do anything they can to make your stay more pleasant, including loaning you an ipad with internet access so you can check your email, arranging a whale-watching trip for just you and your companions (and driving you there and picking you up afterwards!), or arranging for you to tour world class golf course, Il Tamarindo (where they can also arrange for you to play a round, and at a reduced rate, to boot!). The 6 rooms of the hotel are scrupulously clean, comfortable, and renovated one year ago (when the hotel made the transition from long-time family vacation home). Four of the rooms face the ocean and have their own patio lounge areas, complete with comfortable couches, chairs, and tables. Bicycles are available on site, and anything else you want or need, just ask Yvette or Roberto and they will do all they can to arrange it. Tell them any problem you are having and they will fix it with a smile. Rates are reasonable ($250-310 per room per night) and include continental breakfast. Chantli Mare is the perfect place for a relaxing beach vacation—I fell in love with this place and can’t wait to get back.

Room Tip: The 4 rooms facing the beach have patios overlooking the garden with the beach beyond

Enjoyed a breakfast and dinner beach side. We didn't stay here just wandered down the beach for meals. If you are looking for beachfront private place to stay on Boca de Iguanas - near La Manzanilla, the rooms looked very nice. The outside covered restaurant was delightful. Owners and chef take great care in offering well prepared creative meals. You will pay a little more for the rooms but private, beachfront and ease to get into town make it a great choice.

A six bedroom hotel in a villa on the most beautiful beach you can expect on the bay of boca de iguanas : wonderful sand, coconut trees, gorgeous landscape, great water, beautiful sunsets... The owners of the place, Mr and Mrs Contreras, and their staff, do everything to please you. With such a small size everything is very personalized, coffee cup when you wake up, breakfast of any type whenever you want on the terrace overlooking the beach... The villa itself is very welcoming with nice architecture, colors, garden, pool, decorations, furnitures. The bedrooms are very modern and comfortable with a private terrace and a nice bathroom. And of course Chantli Mare is also an excellent restaurant in the area of la Manzanilla with the very talented, imaginative and friendly chef Greg Couillard. No doubt the best restaurant owe ever found in the Costalegre area.
In all a very pleasant stay, and a magic place at less than an hour by car from Manzanillo airport.
