We have just returned with our four teenage children from an amazing week at Chateau de Montvason.
Our hosts, Paul and Emma, made us feel very welcome on arrival – they strongly encourage the use of the Chateau as a home from home, and their attention to detail meant we had everything we needed, from UK plug converters to dressing robes.
The Chateau itself is beautifully restored and full of history – the differently themed rooms are a joy to spend time in, and the large communal kitchen provided us with an opportunity to discuss the events of the day.
Paul and Emma were both very generous with their time, offering advice and directions in relation to places to visit - and after a day out at the many local beaches and restaurants, the indoor pool provided a great place to unwind whilst looking out over the garden.
The garden, which is both large and mature, surrounds the house, and gave us a chance to play several competitive games of hide and seek with the children ..…
Our lasting memory of Montvason is of the warm welcome and beautiful surroundings, which meant that we were really able to relax and to enjoy what the Normandy region has to offer. We would definitely visit again.
We spent a wonderful week at the beautiful Chateau de Mont Vason. Our hosts Emma and Paul are the most hospitable, charming, easy going people you can imagine; fun to be with and very inspiring – especially if you happen to have an interest in vintage interior decorating. The chateau is being respectfully restored to its former splendor with appropriate consideration for modern comforts. Beautifully decorated rooms with very comfortable beds and a nice pool area. The chateau and the big surrounding garden have an almost absorbing, magical atmosphere that is perfect for a holiday getaway when you really want to let go of stress. We will surely be back.
My stay in Chateau de Montvason was possibly the most magical holiday I’ve had. Paul and Emma are the warmest, nicest hosts and pay so much attention to detail. Their fabulous vintage style is in every corner and every aspect of the chateau and despite its size, it is a place you can really relax and feel cosy. I was surprised how effective the heating is, and the pool is like a steam room, pure luxury! I enjoyed a country walk down the track alongside the neighbouring farm, and taking in the clean air too. Chateau de Montvason is a romantic and special place and I will never forget it.
Chateau de Montvason is a hidden gem. Was only 20 mins inland from Cherboug but felt like id travelled back in time to an idyllic, secluded old-world wonderland
The house is vast, with such creative and imaginative rooms, all completely different with such class and decadence at the same time. The colours and the attention to details are sublime, and so comfortable, you feel right at home like a lord or lady of the manor.
I've fallen in love with the place.
The grounds are immense and you can spend the whole day just wondering around from room to room or in the gardens, around the lake, taking in the stunning landscape and imagining life there 100 or 60 years ago. The house is steeped in history and it just oozes from the walls.
I cant recommend this place highly enough, seeing is believing.
August was my second trip this year, I came to the D Day weekend in June and Emma & Paul were kind enough to put me up. I loved it so much that having a free weekend in August I visited again with a friend.
Emma & Paul are delightful hosts, the Chateau and grounds are wonderful and having the swimming pool made the trip absolute heaven!!
I can't wait to visit again.
I had the pleasure of staying at Paul and Emma''s stunning chateau early last spring.
The location itself is wonderful and the chateau one of the most romantic, beautiful and breathtaking places I have ever stayed.
From the surrounding land to the vintage interior the Chateau sparkles with charm and glamour whilst maintaining a relaxing, soothing environment.
Paul and Emma were perfect hosts and made me feel welcome in their beautiful home free to explore its magical nook and crannies and soak up the timeless atmosphere.
I cannot wait to return and am thoroughly jealous of anyone who gets the opportunity to go!
A short drive from beaches, bars, restaurants, cafes, and plenty of interesting sights to see, you have chateau Montvason.
The driveway curves round to reveal this stunning period house, it's just wonderful!
From the moment you enter the building via the stairs (which for all the world looks like something you would see on a movie set) into the reception area you immediately fall in love with Montvason.
Greeted by hosts Paul and Emma, you are made to feel more than welcome and at ease as you shown to the lovely oriental room to relax with beverages, before being shown to your rooms.
All rooms are very tastefully decorated, clean, and very comfortable, all with great views of Montvasons very substantial grounds which, comprises its own wood, lake, gardens and wildlife.
The still of the night is broken only by the sound of owls and crickets as you sit gazing up at the stars, with never ending wonder.
In hand, a glass of Emma's hot buttered rum (i warn you it's very i want more) and The sound of bird calls in the morning is just heavenly. it's just so peaceful.
Montvason at present comprises four bathrooms. three which are on the first floor. If by chance they happen to be occupied? no problem! there is another via the staircase which curls down on the ground floor. where you will also find a large kitchen, two lounge rooms (the white room and the panel room) and a heated swimming pool.
The hosts Paul and Emma whose eagle eye for detail is more than apparent in renovation of their beloved Montvason by not compromising it's integrity.
Their Style, class, unpretentiousness, authenticity, and genuine, warm, caring, sense of fun, with true old fashioned hospitality, is something which not many hosts possess.
Which is the reason we shall be a returning to chateau montvason,,,
