“Official Trip and family weekend”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

Well this was my fourth time here, unexpectedly first 3 days were for a business conference but turned out to be good as despite not being a popular business setting property the arrangements were well done. As usual the property is one of the biggest in Jamaica and offers multiple activities and entertainment. Staff was very accommodating as we requested for a ocean front room which was done with care. Good to comeback always !! Spa is fabulous as well

Room Tip: property villas 13,14,15,16,17 are towards ocean view side, if with kids prefer near the lobby to av...

GREAT VACATION We vacationed with two other couples on 11/2/13 for a week and it was the first time for all of us in Jamaica. We were welcomed with Rum Punch drinks and checked in with no problems, other than is was raining so we decided to have another cocktail and see if the rain let up. We were taken to our building (#13 great location), showed into our rooms and all of our luggage was carried in for us.

Rooms- The rooms were clean and well set up, yes the pillows were hard like other people have said, but the beds were comfortable and after leaving a note to add more water to our refrigerator it was well stocked every day. You have to remember that a dollar goes a long way toward great service. We left a dollar every day for the maid and also one in the fridge. The showers were great plenty of hot water and pressure.

Food - The food was good and plentiful. You have to try out the Jamaican Creole Restaurant I think that ended up being my favorite and we ate there twice. Service was excellent at all of the restaurants. Buffets were good, but we only ate there for breakfast and usually ate at the one that was over the main pool. Again, yes there were birds flying around, but you are outside and it seems that people do not know enough not to feed the birds so yes they did bother some people, but if this is not for you then eat at the inside buffet. Jerk Hut was GREAT!!! A must try!!!!!

Went to all the pools and bars of which there are a lot they were all clean and fun. Must try out the adult spa pool. We spent just about every afternoon there after we had spent all morning and early afternoon in the sun. Wow, wish I was back there now!!! Drinks to try, of course Rum Punch, Dirty Banana, Bahama Momma and don't forget to try at least one shot. Each bartender seemed to have their favorite drink and shot.

Service - Can't say enough good about the people that we had waiting on us. Everyone was so friendly and more than happy to do anything for you. For those people we have complained about the workers being unfriendly or rude, I would say that perhaps you get what you give. We did have two waitress in the infinity bar that were not all that pleasant, but we just got up and moved and did not leave a tip. Certainly would not make me say that the people were rude.

If you are thinking about taking a day trip off the resort I would say check in with Ever Ready who is one of the cab drivers that are available at the Resort and are located right at the main entrance. We all went to Rick's Cafe and made other stops along the way had a great time for a very low price and did a lot of laughing. Would highly recommend this.

A lot of people complain about the walking, we really didn't think that it was that big of a deal. You can walk from one end of the Resort to the other, where Sun Set Beach is in maybe 15 mins. if that. With all the food and alcohol consumption the walking was GREAT!!!

We would go to Jamaica again and we would stay at this Resort. Had a wonderful time.

Room Tip: Building #13 was great. Right across from one of the pools and a bar also very short walk to the ma...

We met Rushel (smiley) as she posed at the pastry display when she was covered in chocolate. She was pleasant and charming the next morning when we saw her and called her Ms Chocolate, We took pic and after that she was our friend for the rest of our trip. She is so pleasant and caring to the guest that I now plan to take our entire family there next thanksgiving. People like Rushel makes us want to return to the Palladium.

We met other crew member who went out of their way to be pleasant I will just mention a few---Puggy great exercise class and just overall pleasant and helpful. Foxxy what a wonderful person personable and forever smiling. They make our trip along with the others unforgettable. Ya man.

This was my first real vacation & I traveled with a few friends to celebrate my divorce. I staied a week & I must say it was GREAT. I was a littled worried based on the other reviews I read before traveling. The resort was BEAUTIFUL, the rooms were great, and the majority of the staff was friendly. Like with anything there are pros & cons, there were one or two staff that wasn't as friendly as others but I did not allow that to effect my trip. The night shows were funny (you had to laugh to sit through it) but they did their best to try to entertain the guests.

Side note: if you do any excurions try the Mayfield tour its a water fall & it was rugged but it was fun and the tour guides were the best. Word of advise do not change your currency, they prefer US dollar and chaniging at the airport is a rip off.

Take extra money for tips. The minimum wage there is $50 per week and the residents really depend on the tips to maintain.

Negatives -
~Beds are hard
~Breakfast is the same every day & food was barely hot... since I LOVE food this bothered me a bit but overall everything was great.

Room Tip: You have access to both sides of the resort (Jamaica & Lady Hamilton), they are the same resort...

Dear 4everhisnum1fan,

First at all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to post a review about your stay at the Grand Palladium Resort and Spa, and for having chosen Grand Palladium as a destination for your “Finally Free 2013” vacation. In the name of Mr. Jose Morgan Hotel Manager, we would like to express how delighted we are to read that your stay was “GREAT” and that our resort was “BEAUTIFUL”.

Our main goal is turning vacations into a memorable holiday. As it relates to the “cons” that is with our beds being hard, I am sorry that you felt this way as our beds are all fully padded. I am also sorry to know that you did not enjoy our delicious meals/breakfast prepared by some of the best Chefs in the Caribbean.

Finally, we would be glad to welcome you back again; please do not hesitate to contact us for further assistance.

A weekend appeared far too long to stay here. Expectations were high based on their information, but don't be fooled, the hotel is ran down and their service leaves much to be desired.:
1. There's no clear welcome or precise information upon arrival
2. Front desk staff did not appear competent in answering simple questions. They were not friendly or accommodating.
3. There was a rat race to check in at three! In addition to this, there were not enough taxis to take to your rooms- rat race again!
4. After being frustrated to get to your room, room was musty and many amenities missing, no shampoo, wash cloths, towels, floor towels. There was not a prompt response to get items. Had to wait for an extended period for some whilst others came the following days.
5. Bathroom and floors were also not very clean
6. Food: Indian restaurant's food was dull. Wait time was also way too long. Again staff were not accommodating. The wait was not worth it as the food was not good! Buffet was okay but the wait for seating was again way too long. Waitresses at the buffet were better than those at the al la carte restaurant's but appeared overworked.
7. Hotel was overall unclean, the floors and Windows at the villas were in need of good soap and water
8. Admittedly, the pools were however clean and the beaches were fun. There was however limited water a activities, only one paddle boat a few kayaks, one catamaran! The staff at the water sports were good, I guess it was because there were hired by another company.

My husband and I just returned from our third trip to Jamaica and our first time at the Grand Palladium in November of 2013. When arriving at the resort, the views were breathtaking and verified the pictures provided online. The room was clean and near all the main attractions, although everyone's room was not as close.

After a long day of traveling, we attempted to take a hot shower. The water was luke warm not only on the first day, but 5 for the 7 days were were there. When we visited several a la cart restaurants, the food was not hot and tasteless, failing to get close to our expectations.

Although we've visited several all-inclusive resorts, this one was truly different. The waiters/waitresses would not provide prompt service unless tipped frequently. Needless to say, this is not the place to go for vacation.

Dear Tanya,

Thank you for your review. We are disappointed to learn that your recent stay with us was below par, we want to stress that this is not the typical experience of our guests. Please be assured that we are taking immediate steps to look at the issues you have described with the water system and our food (which for Palladium, food quality is taken seriously; as we follow strict procedures with food temperature and its handling to prevent and avoid any kind of alimentary risks and hazards)

Regarding service at the restaurants, I am sorry that you felt compelled to tip in order to receive prompt service. While tipping is allowed, it is not mandatory. Efficient and prompt services are what we have always prided ourselves at being able to provide. We are sorry that you were not able to experience same.

All in all we are simply honored for your kind comments regarding our resort- “breathtaking and clean rooms”

It is hoped that despite your negative review of some areas, you will afford us another opportunity to serve you and show you our usual flawless service. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Best regards,

We just returned from 7 days at the Grand Palladium on Nov. 24/13, we went with 2 other couples and none of us had ever been to Jamaica before. I will start off by saying that this resort is probably the most beautiful resort I have ever been to, the palatial atmosphere and the cleanliness stick out the most, but I must confess that I was not impressed with the reception staff upon arrival. We had requested both through our agent and via e-mail that our block of rooms be in the same villa, didn't have to be side by side but definitely in the same building, didn't happen. No sense arguing with them even after asking for a manager, we were told they were fully booked and could not relocate one couple until the next day if a room became available, in the meantime don't unpack but you're in the villa next door so basically what's the big deal? Needless to say I was the one who took the other villa and decided that unless I was given an oceanview room for the inconvenience I could'nt be bothered to move again. Again, didn't happen. The rooms are beautiful but don't expect your fridge to be restocked unless you empty it and hide everything, my husband requested that his beer be refilled and twice it did not happen, he tipped the maid generously throughout the week, and we did not receive any extras. It might seem petty but our maid never once did the decorative "bed art" with the towels, not that it's a huge deal but you would have thought she would have been appreciative of the tips....guess not.

I found some of the serving staff very rude and incompetent, we did however have an amazing waiter in the steak house his name is Christopher and he was wonderful, couldn't do enough for us. There is a certain female waitress up in the piano bar who should be fired, she is/was rude and would take forever to bring our drink orders, she never had a smile and she still expected her tip. I should mention that all servers expect tips and even though it's a personal choice if you choose not to tip be aware you may pay for it at a later time.

The nightly entertainment was lame, any other time we travel I always look forward to the shows in the evening, this resorts entertainment staff left a lot to be desired so if you don't make it to the show you really aren't missing much, the live bands up in the piano bar area are much better.

The beach area at sunset cove is gorgeous with its crystal clear water and sandy bottom, lots of chairs for sunbathing and water sports/activities available. This is at the far end of the resort on the Lady Hamilton side so it's a hike unless you're able to hitch a ride on one of the golf carts. The beach that you access from the main pool area is very rocky and rougher water so take your water shoes. I would think decent for snorkelling if you don't get drifted into the rocks. If you're a beach walker then this resort is probably not for you as there is really nowhere to walk, these beaches are man made for this resort. There are several pools and an adults only as well, we stayed with the main pool area where you will find lots and lots of chairs that you don't have to get up at 6 am to secure, this is where the pool bar is located and there are activities if you want to participate. Have a laugh with the lifeguards, they are amusing and very friendly, say hello to Andre he is the best and full of great stories, he likes to chat all day long, he and the boys had many laughs!!

I am not a picky eater by any means but I suppose after hearing many great things about Jamaica I expected the food to be out of this world, trust me we did not starve and the buffet is very good both in the morning and lunchtime but I found the food the same quality as I would find in Mexico, the jerk hut is nothing special and you'll find better jerk food on the lunch buffet. The steak house is good and so is the Italian, we did mostly a la carte's for dinner, the mexican is alright but slow so don't be in a hurry, if you're a lobster lover you will have to pay for this delight as it isn't served at no charge, approx $30 US and honestly wasn't worth it.

I think this resort caters to primarily couples in their 30's and up or you'll find a lot of young families, I rarely saw teenagers and I would not say this is a party resort by any means. If you're looking for a fairly relaxing vacation this is definitely the place to go.
Overall I would recommend this resort hands down, but be prepared to tip and be forwarned that there probably will be some glitches during your stay. If you're considering a destination wedding the Palladium is a sure winner, there was a wedding almost every day of our stay and they really seem to pull it altogher nicely, your pictures will be incredible.

Room Tip: There are no elevators in the villas so if you don't want to be climbing stairs then request eit...
