We stayed with Duncan and May at only a few hours notice whilst we where kayaking the Great Glen canoe trail. They made us feel very at home and we enjoyed a hearty home made evening meal with them - 3 courses for only £8pp. Breakfast, included in the £20pp B&B price was delicious and full.

There is access to a conservatory and meals are shared in the family dining room, all of which is very nice. Our room was clean, warm and quiet, but dated (However, the owners are planning to renovate soon).

Duncan and May went above and beyond what we could have expected to ensure that we had everything we needed and t help us continue with our trip to Scotland. It was a pleasure to hear their local tales and we will definitely be back if we're in the area again. Thank you both!

Room Tip: Request a front bedroom for a view of Loch Ness!

we stumbled across this b&b after spotting the sign, which says £20 per night, as we never cleared this up beforehand it is per person. however! the room was quiet & clean, if not a little cramped & the tea/coffee/choc was very, very welcome but the best part was chatting to Duncan & May (?) around the breakfast table & their enthusiasm for the loch ness monster!!

I stayed here while walking the great glen way. The owners were very friendly and helpful even running me 3 miles along the road to meet friends for dinner in a hotel AND picking me up again.

The problem is that if you are walking the way the B&B is a further 4 miles from invermoriston and its probably the hardest 4 miles on the full way. There are no shops, or bars for 3 miles. And its £20 in a taxi each way. I also stayed in a cold room with no lock on the door which was a concern as was the smell coming from the drains.

The breakfast was great though and so was the hospitality.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a door that locks

Briar Bank B & B is on the Great Glen Way exactly midway between Fort Augustus and Drumnadrochit. There are no shops or bars and this is part of the attraction to most walkers. The heating goes on at 4.15pm normally, but the heating is put on if guests arrive early. There are thermostats on the radiators in the rooms and guests have full control of how warm they wish the room to be. A thermometer is prominently on display showing the temperature of the room. In the family room where you were, there are heavy curtains, designed to further insulate you from the cold should you wish to close them. Had you advised us that you were cold, we could have turned up the thermostat in your room. Also, there are spare blankets in the wardrobe.

I am sorry that your experience was not as expected but with regard to smells from drains, there are no drains in the vicinity of the family room but the fumes may have come from the outside wall which had just been treated as decking was about to be installed outside the patio doors to the room.

Also, had you asked for a key, you would have been given one, but we feel it is unnecessary as we only have another two guests rooms which are accessed by the back of the building and therefore the public would not have access to the family room.

Went there without knowing about the place but it turned out to be fantabulous. The couple running the facility are extremely hospitable and warm. The food was cooked by the husband and along with his stories he was a complete rockstar! The place has glass doors that give a lovely view to Loch Ness. The rooms are very well kept and the small things in the drawers and coffee table made the stay cozy. If I ever come back to Scotland I'm definitely staying here again!

Room Tip: The Twin room was really good!
