Best place to stay in tuticorin, very calm n quite place to stay without any disturbance. the location of resort is very near to airport hence very convenient.

Except the breakfast, food quality is good. Do not have much of variety in the menu.

THE GOOD

The location of the resort is good. Close to the city and close to the airport and away from the hustle and bustle of city life

The management has invested in a green resort with large lawns and lots of trees around the main buildings .The large well maintained swimming pool complements the surroundings and is an added bonus to people who are looking for a quiet holiday with family or friends

THE BAD

Remember the old adage,"All that glitters is not gold"... well read on

The two executive rooms No. 506 and 507 assigned to us looked large and comfortable. They were however far from comfortable. The AC was under rated and the cooling during most part of the day was ineffective. The discomfort was acute particularly when it restarted during power failures or when one went out with the key.

The bathroom looked large but the wash basin and the W/C were both the smallest size available in the market. The shower looked OK but the holes were all blocked . The flooring in the bathroom looked fine but drainage was blocked and had to be cleared by an attender.

The bathroom in room number 507 one stank like a sewer and operating the ventilator fan had little or no effect on the stench. We had to go through a room shift exercise after a complaint.
The wash basin in room 506 was cracked and never replaced.

The dining hall looked fine and the complimentary buffet spread at breakfast looked pretty exhaustive but the food was far from the standards one would expect from a South Indian restaurant in South India. The other meals were no better.
(The filter coffee was an exception and was good)

UGLY

The ugly part is better left unsaid but both the management of the resort as well as the readers who read my review must know of it.

Originally we had asked for two cottages for our stay but the front desk officer said that all the cottages were fully booked for the 6th and 7th of June. We had no option but to take the more expensive executive rooms. During our stay on the above dates I noticed all the cottages were vacant. Even the other rooms in the main building had only a handful of occupants. Most of the time we were the only family in the resort.

This is an ugly trick to earn a few rupees more

Indecent programs bordering on soft porn and totally unfit for kids was projected on the large outdoor screen in the lawn serving dinner in the night. This is outright ugly

We have no intention of returning to this resort any time in the near future. I have other hotels in mind in Tuticorin.

Useful tips.
Ask for rooms on the first floor. The Air conditioners are slightly better
Do not accept Room 507 without prior inspection.
Check the program on the out door projection in the lawn if you have small kids .

I was there for couple of times. Last week i went with my family to relax and enjoy the green lush in hot may. They really put lots of efforts to make it happen. i cant imagine a place like this in tuticorin. Worth the stay with the family. Staffs are really cool and the General Manager i guess Mr.Sunder( always with the smile in his face), hats off to his hospitality and friendly behavior of the the staffs. Food was excellent, very spacious for the kids to play around. We all enjoyed the swimming pool out there. Best place to relax. Love to make a trip soon there.

Room Tip: For families its gud to opt suite rooms. Kids will love it.

I had last reviewed this place in 2010. Having stayed off and on at this hotel over the last four years or so and The resort continues to be one of the best options in Tuticorin.

Located on the outskirts of the town, the spacious grounds are still lush and surprisingly green for this part of the world, and create a very relaxing ambiance. The lawn in front of the building is a great place to have dinner or a drink or two. The one at the back also looks inviting. There is a play area for children and a lot of space for them to run around.

The rooms are very spacious and reasonably well furnished with a comfortable sofa and plenty of sockets to charge all your gadgets. The bathrooms are clean and reasonably well appointed. I found the spacious balcony a nice place to have my coffee. They also have a few cottages which are rather nice. However, The woodwork is beginning to look tired.

The LCD TV connects to the best choice of English entertainment channels in this town. The air conditioning is good, the fridge works, though it is empty. The usual complimentary tea/ coffee making facility and fruit basket were conspicuous by their absence. complimentary cookies are provided.

WiFi is free but the signals were weak most of the time and even checking mails can be a pain.

They now have a fairly well organised spa, where I had a couple of good haircuts at a reasonable price, but other guests did say that the spa treatments were overpriced.

The service is polite but not as efficient as I would have liked. Some of the young waiters were students from catering colleges on training stints at the resort. Their inexperience and lack of training tells on the service.

The non-vegetarian food is still very good but you have to make sure that they understand what you want, especially when you order room service. My dinner was not exactly what I ordered and the guy who took my order for the wake-up coffee went home after writing the instructions on a board which the guy on duty in the morning did not read leading to my oversleeping and then making a mad scramble to the airport !

They have a nice submarine themed bar on the premises with as good a collection as the state Government’s rules allow. It is probably the best in town.

Usually “resorts” are located some distance away from towns, making them unsuitable for business visits. This one doubles as a resort and a business hotel. It is ideal for families with kids .

Room Tip: Choose a cottage if you are not to particular about wifi
