We visited the Pont du Gard by canoe kayak on the Rhone river. Each Kayak can take 2 to 3 persons. The river is calm in this area and even if you never did it before you can manage driving it. The advantage is that you can make several stops and enjoy swimming in the water or get some rest. And then, you see the bridge appearing in front of you. This view is amazing. It does take around 3 hours and more if you take your time but every minute is pure pleasure especially when you compare this adventure to the alternative to visit the bridge which is the walk for a looooong time under a boiling sunshine. A few tips : wear a swim suit, get some cloths to change after the ride and leave them in the car, wear shoes that can take water (no flip flops), make sure you protect yourself with sunscreen and sunglasses, and most of all store you valuables and particularly your camera in the dry box they give you, bring a bottle of water especially if it's hot. And then enjoy the ride!

I wanted to canoe under the Pont du Gard.

I had an opion to rent a bike, was given a map and some ideas what to explore. I went up the hill on teh opposite bank, quite gravely road, but nice. Visited the museum at Pont du Gard (cheaper with a bike than a car), which I really enjoyed.

Followed the advice to discover Vers and the Route de pierre, the Roman quarry where they got he stones from for the pont du Gard. Got a bit loits, bu found it finally. Veryí interesting.

Then onto the camping where the canoe was waiting for me. Bough some local wine to take away. After some confusion I did find the camping and he canoe and had a wonderful trip down the river.

Spent oo much time cycling and not enough canoing, due to my own ime management and getting slightlz lost. Had a wonderful all round experience.

Staff was very helpful at natu Rando, I recommenfd it.
