I stayed on Tuesday 28 Jan 2014. It was a single en-suite room, a bit small but comfortable, shower and toilet, again small but efficient. Usual free view tv.
Food in the restaurant was excellent, as was the service. Drinks in the well stocked bar were reasonably priced. TV in bar was stuck on music channel... No football :( had to get up through the night to watch and listen to tide coming in (stormy) awesome. Ask for a sea view... Back again next week..

I aways try to get The Ship for my business trips to Aberdeen. Although a bit outside I much prefer Stonehaven to the noise of the city. The Ship Inn is a character filled small hotel with a fantastic resturaunt and a location second to none.

Stayed two nights here....somewhat disappointing. Staff were friendly and welcoming, the room clean and comfortable. However the minor details were disappointing. E.g. Skimped on the number of teabags...a variety of different flavoured teas meant that you could only have one cup of ordinary tea. A minor detail but given the price I think it would have been better to have at least more ordinary tea, especially if one is not that partial to flavoured teas.

We had the pleasure of booking the Ship Inn for 12 people, as we were attending a ball in Stonehaven on the 15th November 13.
We were delighted with the service of the booking, all the rooms were excellent, and the breakfast was second to none.
Cannot fault the service or attention we were all given.
Highly recommended and the restaurant is also excellent, well worth the stay, will use again.

Room Tip: All rooms were excellent, the view of the harbour and sea was glorious, so ask for a room with a sea...

this well furbished pub is right at the harbour and was deservably busy both in the bar and restuarent the weekend we were there. The staff are friendly local and competent, the food fresh and home cooked, the breakfast was better than in a five star hotel. The rooms are clean comfortable refurbished with huge tv screens.
Rooms 1-3 are well named cabins as one could not swing a ships cat in them.

Room Tip: ask for a harbour view

Staff friendly, rooms clean and comfortable... Awesome views to the harbor from the room. Quiet place where to pass night either have a weekend of relaxation in Stonehaven. We didn't have any problem parking the car, and the Dunottar castle is very near, just 5 minutes by car. Great breakfast options.

We stayed here quite by chance on our trip to Scotland and it was a pleasant surprise to find modern ensuite rooms above this lovely old pub (1771) with a picturesque view of the harbour. The rooms are accessed by an entrance at the side of the pub; bed was very comfortable and the shower worked well. Wonderful porridge on the menu at breakfast. We forgot to book for dinner on a Saturday night and although we were guests at the hotel, we missed out on a meal that night as we couldn't be bothered going out somewhere. The staff were really helpful and very friendly. The Inn is at the base of the cliff walk to Dunnottar Castle which is about an hour's walk away. This is a lovely walk and the castle is also accessed by road a lot quicker.

Room Tip: Ask for a harbour view.
