This truly is worth seeing and even walking out to, especially on a nice day. Not only is it very scenic, but the history is truly rich. I highly recommend taking your time, and even walking along the coast there.

There are no words!! You must visit this place. You will feel privileged to behold these sights! The bus ride there and back was so affordable and departed from the mall area of Aberdeen. This is a sight not to be missed.

On way back from turriff, had to go back here to the castle,it is about 1. 1/4 miles from stonehaven about ten miles from Aberdeen or so.I did not go down and up to visit the inside ,have all the photos from years ago ,and hip not to good for the decent ,then up.but could not bypass this castle, my detour was not wasted ,arrived 10 ish,in the morning short walk from the car park to the best views of this castle,,,bit of mist but added to glamour if you need to go into history and updates of prices and times of opening please google, I will put up my photos ,so you can judge for yourself on visiting, but not suitable for wheel chairs or anyone with bad walking ability ,unfortunately .

We were lucky enough to get a hot sunny day last Saturday for our visit. Fantastic castle, must be over two hundred steps to negotiate down and up on the approach - same back, someone should count them, but room to stop and admire the views and catch your breath on the journey. Good value at £6 per adult, family ticket available and free car park! Disappointed there was no shop/visitors centre, who doesn't want a souvenir? Certainly the bus trip of young people and all the foreigners would have spent cash. I was amazed how many visitors there were, but plenty of room to move and wander about, it didn't feel crowded. Only food was fast food van. Don't know how the disabled would visit.

I try and visit most castle across the UK, this is amazing. The only thing I would off wanted but you can't really have everything is a nice sunset or a rough skyline (eg thunder lighting) apart from that it just stunning as it's sit's on a hill cliff which makes it look like it's another Island.

Well worth having a look.
