“Amazing site!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2016

An incredible site to see when you walk the path from the car park to the castle. A superb setting surveying land & sea.
Car park is free, with toilets and a snack cabin with picnic benches outside. Even if you don't enter the castle, simply coming to the site & exploring the beach and walking the coastline will make you smile.
As it is, £7.00 entry is well worth it. Plenty to see and explore. The views itself from the castle walls justify the cost on its own. Don't miss the place where they kept a lion on the rock. Overall well worth the visit.

“Wonderful place”

This place was totally worth of driving several hours, really beautiful place. There were not too many tourists at the same time so e.g. we didn't have to queue inside.

“Be Prepared to Be Amazed!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2016

Dunnottar Castle Ruin was everything we had read about, seen, and more. It is amazing from the first moment you see the castle ruin perched atop a seaside cliff. The view of the castle on The North Sea is truly amazing. It's a hike to get inside and a hike to get back to the car park but it is well worth the trip. You can also walk down to the rocky beach area if you have any energy left. There is also a cliff walk with spectacular views of the sea and the castle from the Stonehaven harbor car park. It is quite a hike (about 5 miles) but worth it.
Walking through the inside of the castle is like stepping back in time. It's easy to imagine a city operating within its walls. There are helpful signs posted throughout the property to enhance the journey and give you a clue as to life within the walls. Its still an amazement that places of this magnitude could be built and still remain given the tools of the day.

“Natural wonders and history together!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2016 via mobile

A magical place to spend an afternoon. The beauty of the cliffs covered with flowers and green grass combined with the fantastic castle ruins are a haven for nature lovers and history buffs alike. The nesting birds were also nice to observe. We could not take enough photos, lovely shots were everywhere. The weather was lovely and there was even an app to download. There are signs and information boards set up to instruct visitors in the historic uses of the spaces. The steps are a bit uneven and rocky so where good rubber soles shoes.

“Amazing views”

Worth the money to get in to learn the history of the place & see the views but is quite a walk down & back up so sturdy footwear is required.
