We went on Saturday 9th September and we were fortunate enough to see schools of dolphins. The guy in the car park who works there said that there had been sightings of a humpback and minky whale recently and we were very lucky to see dolphins.

The castle itself is majestic even if it is a ruin. Every corner was different - it reminded me a bit of pompeii with the stone work left behind after years and years.

The stairs are a little crazy so I suggest a good pair of walking shoes and take opportunity of the hand rail whenever there is one. It is definitely a trek. But it is sooo worth it - there was bagpipes played, a couple getting married and wild dolphins.

The castle seems small from distance but is actually really big and wide with views from every side of the castle's ruins, even the dungeons, If you don't want to pay you can see the castle from a very good and close distance, but you do have to pay when you get in, of course, there are a lot of steps to go down and climb to get to the castle and it can get a bit slippery with rain but once you get to the castle it will be worth it!!I totally enjoyed visiting the castle and the small beach below the castle and enjoying the amazing views of Dunnottar Castle

On a tall, bluff where one can see down the coast to other coves and bays. Such a stunning area. Must have taken 100 photos as one can walk on bluffs to the right and left of the castle. There are stairs but don't let that stop you. Just take your time as it will not disappoint. One of the most beautiful places we have been here in lovely Scotland!

Amazing!!!! Well worth the long and breath taking walk to get there. Lots of stairs to climb on the way back up but the stunning views make up for it.

It is an amazing site and the climb down and then up again is not easy. But the ruins themselves are well worth a visit and you can see the outline of the castle from the top after a short walk down the path from the car park.
