“What beach?”

The "beach" in the photograph consists of large stones down to small shingle. I didn't see any sand. For that you go to the harbour and there were many families doing what families do on sandy beaches but I'm afraid that I almost choked when I saw this. It is the harbour. With fishing boats. Although Scottish, I now live in The Algarve, Portugal, where there are so many miles of beach that you can have a whole one to yourself. However the folk at the harbour seemed to be enjoying their day at the seaside so who am I to dampen their enthusiasm? Don't expect too much but if it makes you/the kids happy then go for it.

Lovely clean beach. Great walks and scenery. Keep your eyes open for dolphins - regular visitors - and lots of wild-life!
If you are feeling energetic, walk out to Dunottar Castle - well worth it.

Most of the beach, along the sea front, consists of pebbles but for a sandy beach there is a small section near the pretty harbour area. Along the sea front are some cafes, a campsite and the open air swimming pool. The harbour area has more up market pubs, B&Bs and restaurants as well as the Tolbooth Museum.

Not much to see here, it's pleasant and full of smooth pebbles however there are nicer sand beaches around the area towards the castle. It's nice as a starting point towards Dunnottar castle

Has a great walk way to stroll from one end to the other and the harbour is very pretty. There are loads of places to eat at either end
