Alan and his sweet mother Margaret gave us a very hospitable welcome in their top-quality guest house, right on the beach of Stonehaven. We enjoyed amazing views of the Stonehaven bay from our room, and the breakfast was among the best that we ever had in two decades of traveling in Great Britain.

We throughly enjoyed our stay in Stonehaven and at the Beachgate. The breakfast is great, the room was spotless, the town was amazing. We were able to order our breakfast the morning of, which was nice since I never know my mood till the morning. This was one of our two favorite spots on our trip.

This B&B is the best. Alan and Margaret were really helpful in advice about the area and Aberdeen. I bit of luxury especially as we had been travelling quite a bit around the UK. Stonehaven is a lovely place to visit and relax a bit.
If you are in the area it is the place to stay.

This is by far the best B&B that I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. We had a beautiful vase of fresh flowers in the bedroom and cut crystal glasses. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The breakfast was Superb with an excellent choice my husband chose the salmon which he said was amazing and I had waffles. All this was accompanied by fresh fruit and cereals, toast and a delicious pot of coffee. The host were attentive and friendly and the B&B is in an excellent location.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms have a Sea view

I don't like to wax on about places as it then seems as if I have no critical foundation, but places like Beachgate are worth the salubrious commendations.
My wife and I stayed at Beachgate for 3 nights. Our stay was comfortable, easy going and made even better by the attentiveness of our hosts Alan and Margaret.
Suffice it to say that anyone can make up a room and hang up a sign that advertises a B and B. It takes a person of exacting standards to offer the kind of care that we received. This is best summed up in the breakfasts: choices ranging from Chicken or Duck Eggs, to poached Salmon, to Waffles to Bacon, to fresh fruit.
Of course Stonehaven should also be mentioned. The beautiful beach - just outside our window - which makes it a welcome retreat for retirees and dog lovers was beautiful. During our stay we also accidentally stumbled on the Stonehaven Folk Music Festival a raucous affair in which anyone with a tune, a voice a dance or an instrument could partake. Nor could we complain about the sweets shop - where my wife found the boiled sweets she remembered from her childhood in Ireland and where I found the newstands I had forgotten were part of the British culture I had discovered when doing research in London 30 years ago.
Many thanks to Stonehaven and to Alan and Margaret for making our stay A1. We do hope to return to relax and enjoy the quieter life offered up in a village off the beaten track.

This B&B well exceeded our expectations on our recent trip to Scotland. Beachgate was only a few steps from a beautiful beach. The room was spacious, comfortable, and extremely up to date. The breakfast was without a doubt the best we had from our experience of 10 B&B's while on our trip. The highlight of the trip was the friendliness of Mr. Michie. He was the consummate host, and we really felt as if we were in our own home. You will not regret a moment at Beachgate.
