Well equipped and spacious villa in quiet little town. Great pool, much enjoyed by children and adults. Plenty of space for 3 generations/10 family members. We planned just to enjoy the sunshine and company so didn't explore the wider area much, but local shops/bars were a very short walk away and we had only a short drive to supermarket, beach, decent Indian restaurant and the larger town of Lagos - so all very convenient and relaxing.
Spent a lovely 2 weeks at Casa Sandra this year and returned home almost horizontal with relaxation.
The villa is spacious and has plenty to entertain even the most demanding of teenagers - I had 2 with me. Issues with the internet were dealt with quickly & Nicola was a gem to deal with.
Although the village itself is quiet, there is a restaurant & a couple of bars and Luz and Lagos are a short drive away.
Followed Nicola's recommendation to Cape St Vincente & Foia (where you can see the whole Algarve on a clear day) but felt little need to go far from our home comforts at the villa.
The addition of robes & slippers was one of the little touches that made our stay special and the pool area is ideal for a break soaking up the sun.
The only thing I would change is the local pair of cockerels who loved to announce day break at 4am every morning! :)
Perfect villa! It had everything we needed for a nice relaxing holiday. Conveniently located, the villa is a short stroll away from a lovely restaurant (Brodies) and a mini market and short drive from larger supermarkets, restaurants and nice beaches. The villa has anything and everything you could need and any queries were dealt with quickly by Nicola from the management company. The owner Gary was also very helpful throughout the booking process and provided very useful information prior to arrival. The free wifi, heated pool, board games, PS2 and internet tv were much needed and appreciated by the kids. We hope to visit again in the future!
Casa Sandra is a great place to switch off and relax. The pool is perfect (we had it heated) and big enough for adults to enjoy a swim and the table tennis table was a great extra. As a family of 4 it was really spacious and made for a wonderful holiday - it was hard to go to the beach when everyone was so happy not moving!
It is a well looked after villa with good comfortable spaces for anything you may want to do. At any time of daylight you can find shade or full sun outside. The dining room is large or there's a table in the kitchen, or shady table by the pool, the lounge has plenty of comfortable furniture and a TV with lots of good TV channels, the sun loungers are good quality. Bedrooms are a reasonable size and the bathrooms all work well.
The village is fine, nothing too exciting (we were off season) you can have a simple dinner out, get a good coffee or beer and most things you need from the little supermarket. Within 5-10min is an excellent supermarket with good fresh counters for meat/veg/fish and a big wine section. We went to different beaches every time, all of them were beautiful, all had wonderful beach restaurants and all were within a 20min drive of the villa.
We have just spent a lovely week at Casa Sandra - four adults, a toddler and a 5 month old. Gary was extremely helpful during the whole process, giving advice on the local area, providing stair gates and high chairs etc for our little people and so on.
The villa itself is extremely well equipped, lots of space inside and out, the pool is lovely even in early November, and the village of Almadena is really charming. It's quiet and cobbled, there's a couple of bars and restaurants, a little shop and it's close enough to the larger towns of Luz and Lagos. I'd definitely recommend hiring a car and getting out and about in the local area, there are some stunning beaches a short drive away, and plenty of shops, the market, restaurants and the usual holiday activities. Unfortunately the slide & splash water park was closed (end of season) and the weather wasn't great on the day we planned to visit zoomarine but these are both within easy reach. (Don't watch the YouTube ad for ZooMarine - the song will be stuck in your head for all time.) We had also hoped to visit the O'Celero restaurant but it too was closed, a risk you take visiting out of season. But we had a perfectly good birthday meal at Brodie's - beautiful juicy prawns, thick fillet steaks and great puds. We also enjoyed having bbqs in the garden, ping-pong in the games room and evening sun with cocktails on the balcony of the front bedroom.
We definitely hope to return in the future, it was fab.
