Enjoyed our dinner at Port Perry Smokehouse. We came there a bit late---shortly before closing---and quite appreciated how on the board before entering they write out everything that has been sold out....so you don't have to get your hopes up. Last night they were out of brisket---which was too bad.
We ordered a pound of chicken wings w. their home made barbeque sauce w. yam fries, plus some pulled pork tacos. I was impressed with the flavour of the pulled pork, and it wasn't at all greasy. The chicken wings were a bit dry....but I liked the fact that the barbeque sauce is baked right in them so the flavour goes through. The yam fries were pretty oily, I found. But we ate them all....and they hit the spot.
Service was fine. And the atmosphere? Kind of reminded us of our trip to Cuba. A dark basement in an old building. But I have to admit it had some character (even if its not the kind of character most diners might be attracted to).....and there was a feeling of 'privacy' sitting in those booths.
