“Very Old!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2013

For the price you have to pay!! it is definitely not worth it!! decrepit looking furniture, old mattress!
broken metal blinds on the window! when I opened the window a big cloud of dust blew back at me, not enough lighting. Would NEVER go back!!

I am currently on business in Elliot Lake and could not find space at my usual hotel. I received a suggestion to stay at the Dunlop Lake Lodge, some 15 mins north of the town. The lodge is fine, the bed's a bit uncomfortable (the mattresses are obviously old and need to be replaced imho), but it's a lodge, not a five star luxury hotel.

The food, on the other hand, is divine.

The first night I had the Reuben sandwich; I have never seen a Reuben with so much meat and it was really good. Tonight I had the Caribbean chicken; t was tender, juicy, the exact right amount of spice complimented with avocado and, I believe, papaya. To be honest, this guy should take this dish to Hell's Kitchen; he'd win the grand finale easily.

I will be returning for the food every visit from now on.

My family and I went to Dunlop Lodge for the Mother's Day Brunch. Food was VERY good and the service was even better. Kind, caring atmosphere...thanks Jane. We'll definitely be back in the very near future!!

We rented the suite with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, sauna and jacuzzi. They are in the process of renovating but the renos are badly done, materials are cheap and they have left them lying around in the suite. We needed a heater because the rooms were cold and we were not permitted to use the two fireplaces advertised in their add. I wanted to take a jacuzzi but was turned off by the scum floating on top of the water. Cracked tiles. There was a small pile of hair on the floor near the shower. Moldy ceiling and broken cover in shower. The doors, near the door knobs have stains around them. They use the suite to store a freezer with food in it and various other things for either the restaurant or the hotel. Decor is old and used. Outdoor setting is very beautiful but I certainly would not go back! Price is astonomical!

Hello there,

Thank for your feedback on TripAdvisor. We have changed our management team base on your and another reviewer's comments. We also fixed all problems to provide a better customer experience. The old manager made so many bad decisions and we are sorry you had bad experience with us. We highly encourage you to revisit the lodge, stay with us again at a discounted price and reconsider your comment.

Many thanks,

Didn't actually stay there but met with a group of friends for Sunday Brunch. It was great, the waitresses were wonderful and the food was great. The place looks really great now it has been renovated and is certainly is in a great location. Would certainly go back there again.

Room Tip: Make sure you overlook the lake

I just attended a wedding at this rustic yet breathtaking Resort! A true Canadian experience. The owners were hard workers and busy but beyond accomadating. I was a guest without a date and felt uncomfortable and they made sure I was well taken care of. The staff were also fantastic, especially a young man who wore glasses who was so proffessional and was always asking if he could do anything for the guests. The views and decks and lakeside wedding was breathtaking for an outdoor wedding. Down to earth great people for a TRULY northern gataway! I cannot thank them enough for their hospitality and know the bride and groom were immensily pleased. The master suite was georgous with an entire wall of window looking at the lake, big kitchen with centre Island and two LARGE bedrooms. The master Bath had a huge sunkin jacuzzi with a sauna! I will be returning for sure for a small vacation. The drive there was even enjoyable.

We went for our first time ever, 3 couples, all family. We just got home on Sunday night, they had a fantastic grand reopening that just happened when we were there. They were very busy making sure everything was perfect. We were the cottage dwellers, in a 3 bedroom chalet on the hill. We were very private from the resort exactly what we were looking for. The cabin was rustic with all the amenities and we had a great time, Jane and Gord were wonderful people that ran the resort and we really enjoyed talking to them. thanks for all the laughs, sometimes it is better to laugh than cry.. Robert also thank you for taking interest in us to make sure our stay was comfortable and well worth it. keep up the great work and I know everyday will just be better and better. Tell Alisha thank you as well she was very great at listening to us and getting anything we needed. very nice girl! Gord keep up your sense of humor, we all hd fun and thanks again. Signed the cottage dwellers.. that was Gord,s nickname for us...
