“Really cool part of the building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2014 via mobile

I think this is one of the best parts of the building. The architecture inside is very interesting and was the meeting place of the emperor with all of his ministers and advisors. As I said before, I think that the best option is to get a guide for the tour which can be hired for relatively cheap.

“Audience Chamber with Lotus Throne”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 March 2014

On a visit to Fatehpur Sikri, my group spent a bit of time in the Diwan-I-Kas, a free-standing pavillion open-to-the-air. The building has a tower in each corner and a carved central pillar that supports what is known as the lotus throne. The interior was used for the emperor's private meetings and audiences with ministers of state.

The state of preservation of this wonderful building is superb and the carvings are splendid. The central pillar is awe-inspiring. I've photographed a bat hiding in the carvings. See photos.

It astounds me that this entire city was abandoned. One tradition is that there wasn't sufficient water supply. In any case, the city is splendid and built entirely of red sandstone. It's a must-see if you are in this area.

“For Emperor's Close Aids”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2013

This is where Mughal Emperor Akbar dealt with matter of politics. The hall of specials or Diwaane Khas was where the courtiers and close aides of Emperor advised him on the state of affairs. lso referred to as the Hall of Private Audiences, it is an astonishing chamber dominated by a massive carved pillar, which supports a fantastic capital above which is a balcony.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2013

On the way to Agra visited Fatehpur Sikri.
It is a World heritage Site and totally worth it.
Diwan-I-khas is the meeting point for the special audience of the Rulers then.

I would recommend visiting.
