Having been to the North Star on a number of occasions, a couple of friends and myself decided to go to this delightfully situated restaurant. As it was a spur of the moment decision, we had not booked, and were quite crestfallen to see the car park so full! However, before parking up, one of our party went in and inquired if we could be fitted in. To our delight, they said they could let us have a table if we could vacate it by 1.15 pm. As it was only 12.15 when we arrived, we jumped at the offer. The staff could not have been more welcoming, and were even apologetic about not being able to give us a longer stay at the table!! We were given ample time to make our choices, and decided to go right into the main course, which was delicious. Even better, we had time the sample the famous desert trolley.
We opted to have our coffees in the 'snug'. At no time did we feel rushed. We will be back again, and next time we will book!

My husband and I visit the North Star on a regular basis as we are lucky enough to live nearby. The menu is varied enough to ensure that whatever we feel like eating, we will find just the thing on the menu - the fish is wonderful and a favourite is the poached haddock with crab or prawns. Another favourite is their home made steak pie, always tender and full of meat. There is always plenty of vegetables and the staff always check we are happy and ask if we would like extra. The staff are always attentive and ensure our meals there are an enjoyable experience all round.

The North Star Hotel is situated at the top of the cliffs near Flamborough. We have lunched there twice and on each occasion have been more than happy. The food is traditional, home cooking, well presented by attentive staff. The desert trolley is fantastic - a wonderful selection, all home make and at £3.75 each very good value. The 'small' restaurant is much nicer than the larger dining area, if it is available. There are also comfortable areas to sit to have pre-meal drinks or just coffee. Take a walk along the cliffs, peopled by sea birds, and enjoy the dramatic views.

When a Hotel Restaurant enjoys a high level of repeat business with the same very efficient staff year after year their formula must be right.

It is well worth foregoing a starter to leave room for the sweet trolley!

A lovely hotel restaurant where the service was excellent and the food extremely good. I had the 8oz fillet steak, it was like a banquet :) The steak arrived on its plate cooked exactly as ordered, with mushrooms, tomatoes and a pile of crispy onion rings. Then a dish arrives with buttered carrots, peas, chips, boiled new potatoes and cauliflower cheese! I had a half carafe of the Tempranillo to go with it which was very nice as well. For dessert I just had a fruit salad, but I hear their sweet trolley is rather good! I had coffee afterwards and sat in the lounge, all very civilised. Probably one of the best meals I have had out in a while.
