“Well cooked fish.”
Reviewed 21 September 2013

Stopped off for lunch after a very enjoyable walk along the coast. The food was good and well presented. A good range of vegetables, not over cooked and served separately . The desserts looked excellent but I had run out of room by then, next time I will make sure to leave some space.

Worth the journey to this lovely restaurant, go hungry you will get loads of food and they ask you if you would like more, it is in a class of its own, with Yorkshire coast at its finest a couple of hundred yards away, it is teaming with wild life.

Had dinner at the North Star Hotel last week. The food was excellent - fresh fish, fresh veg, and puddings to die for. The portion sizes were very generous, and the puddings especially were massive - lots of cream, plus more cream, and fruit salad for the health conscious. Excellent value.
The staff were friendly and attentive.
The views from the dining room across the cliffs to Thornwick Bay and beyond to Filey were magnificent in the setting sun.

Just returned from the North Star & what a fantastic little break it was hotel was very clean staff friendly and the food was brilliant ( I had the large brekky & it was immense). We had our evening meal in the pub restaurant which was also just as good I recommend the smoked haddock but everyone's food looked lovely. A good traditional hotel in which I will be returning when I'm up the East Riding again

This place is a little gem. Great sea views (we were in room 1). The staff are wonderfull, will help in anyway they can. The food is fantastic both breakfast (the quality is better than many of the 4&5 star hotels we have stayed in) The restaurant in the evening is lovely, food choice excellent. Try this hotel, you will not be disapointed. We will be back!

We've been coming to The North Star almost annually for the past 12 years. The North Star is a small family-run hotel situated close to the dramatic chalk cliffs of Flamborough, which at this time of year are covered in nesting sea birds. We love the walking that is available and bird-watching which is excellent.
The North Star Hotel is an excellent base to explore this area from, particularly following a good night's sleep in room 1 and a 'Flamborough Grill' breakfast. After a day enjoying the local countryside and wildlife it is great to know that the hotel will be so comfortable to return to.
The staff under the leadership of Mike and Karen Johnstone are so warm, friendly and welcoming and the evening meals a real treat with fresh fish a speciality. You can guarantee you'll not go away from the table feeling hungry here. Portions are generous and the famous dessert trollies are a temptation too far!
We look forward to spending another four nights at The North Star next year.

Room Tip: Room 1 is the largest facing east and south. Don't forget the black out blind on the south facin...

What a lovely place! Nice surroundings, high standards, friendly helpful staff & a must to visit if in the area. The food is excellent, well cooked with plenty of choice & generous portions. You can get a fantastic 3 course meal for under £20!

If you have a sweet tooth the sweet trolley is a sight to behold & you really are spoilt for choice.

Will certainly be going again!
