The Stray Possum Lodge

We came to the stray possum lodge with 3 other families. This holiday was brilliant. I cant wait to get back there. My son caught his first snapper, my husband i did some fabulous diving, and we were completely and utterly spoilt by Kev (owner). We stayed for 6 days and that went by way too fast. The beaches were safe and the kids had a great time.
We used both the communal facilities and had meals at the lodge. I was good to have both options. The scenery around the lodge was breathtaking. The kids loved the dogs, cats, pigs and various birds that frequented the area. thank you Kev and Marissa. C u next time. Will and Mandy and kids

I went for a weekend trip with some mates from my rugby team to great barrier and stayed at The Stray Possum. The lodge good beds, great communal cooking facilities and plenty of room for a bbq and a few beers.
As Barrier is pretty isolated, Kevin (owner/operator) was able to provide us with transport around the island. Kevin also took us fishing.
Really great people and I highly recommend staying at The Stray Possum Lodge.

spent 4 days with Kevin and Marissa with group of 17, young and old. Excellent hosts, beautiful setting and plenty to do. Paint-ball in the bush was a riot, and Kevin knew the best fishing spots. Orcas and dolphins swimming nearby at times and schools of fish everywhere. Some of the boys went diving on the eastern coast while others relaxed when it was looking too rough to be boating. Neat sports bar with big screen to watch All Blacks and Kiwi League teams.
Bedding was comfortable, lounge and kitchen functional - could have done with a freezer in the fridge.

15 of us stayed at the Stray Possum Lodge a couple of weekends ago. We were collected from the ferry and well looked after throughout the stay by Kevin and his team. They also showed great hospitality in entertaining us. The remoteness of the Lodge, yet so close to the port added to the occasion. We will definitely be back.

I stayed at the Stray Possum Lodge in October 2013 and rate the stay very highly. From the initial booking process to the checkout process everything was so easy.

We were greeted at the Ferry by Kev and the Possum Lodge Crew who took us back to the lodge. We stayed in the group accommodation section and found it to be very comfortable. We fired up the BBQ and ate on the deck while the sun fell. All of the amenities that you would expected were provided + many more (BBQ + plates etc). The kitchen was well set out and clean, as were the rooms and bathrooms.

We ate at the lodge and watched the All Black vs Australia game with some other guests and had a fantastic time on our second night. The food and service at the bar / restaurant was great and recommended.

Overall the lodge had everything we needed and more. The hosts were wonderful and nothing was a hassle. I can't wait to go back and stay again.

Troy
