Stayed there 5 days for business. I could complain about slow internet (however - free), lack of valet laundry (there was guest laundry only), or 2 single beds insted of nice king size one. But it all doesn't matter when your room view is a frozen lake, covered by snow. When after work you go to a fitness park, but I'm not talking about running on treadmill - I mean a Nordic Fitness Sports Park (just 1.5 km from the hotel) - and hotel rents cross-country skiing sets, nordic walking sticks - if you're there after snow melts. Add amazing reindeer for dinner, tasty lager (Koff), and warm cheese bread for dessert (you honestly have to try it!). Plus nice pool (small one - can't do laps), spa bath (again with a lake view) and saunas.

Lot's of hotel information is in Finnish, so you feel that you're missing out, but staff speaks good English and is very helpful.

Their brochure says "The main hotel is the heart of Keurusselkä and you will experience a stylish 50’s atmosphere." Well, maybe furniture is from 50s, but it only adds charm to this unique place.

Really enjoyed ourselves, the weather was excellent, Facitilites were good. Menu was very tasty, Pint of lager, Koff, was 4euros. Yes the hotel and rooms could do with up dating but by the end of our stay it had become part of the charm. We swam in the lake, the pool, used the spa and saunas. Good english spoken by the very helpful staff. Only wish was that there had been tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, but there was a fridge and modern tele. For a day trip you can take a 3hour lake cruise that leaves from the hotel. A lot of driving to get to the bigger towns attractions but if you want a relaxing beach break, with fresh clean air, peace and tranquility. I'd definately recommend.

We were doing a tour of Finland with my family (husband + 4-year old), and during that we spent two nights at Keurusselkä. The scenery in the area was really beautiful; hills, forests, a large lake with small islands, ... a good word would be serene. Walking down to the beach in early morning to watch the still, clear lake is enough to melt a year of stress.

I agree with the previous review by "novacaine", that the location is somewhat stuck to the 70'ies, but that actually didn't bother at all. It was best represented by the room equipment: a new flat screen TV, combined with a stereo equipment from the early 80'ies. On the other hand, the room was very nice - we had a separate bedroom, small front yard with view to the lake, and our OWN sauna, which was a really nice surprise.

The staff was very friendly, and the food in the restaurant was really good, I especially liked their warm sandwiches - definitely not healthy, but good taste. The funny part about the restaurant was that it's also a local dance restaurant - and by dance I mean traditional dancing, with live performances. True Finnish countryside stuff.

The spa-area was small but clean, with a little poolside bar and an outside terrace on the hotel roof. Didn't try any treatments, though there was plenty available.

There was also a large playground for kids, and the lake had a really shallow beach, where you could walk around 100m before the water even reaches your hips. Inside the hotel there was also a large playroom with lots of toys and games.

I visited this hotel with "rally travel" when I was watching Rally Finland.

It was warm and welcoming. Almost all the staff spoke excellent English and were very friendly

The food in the restaurant was fabulous, especially the Reindeer steak.

The hotel wasn't that modern and stylish the bedrooms were nice. Clean and comfortable, but again, had the distinct feeling that they were trapped in the 70's

The location was nothing short of amazing, almost all of the rooms have large windows and patio doors onto an area a few yards from a large lake

I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend
