This hotel was a convent now a 4* hotel. The grounds are magnificent with a pool and plenty of seating space to relax in, around the pool and in the gardens. There are olive groves and flower beds and a Roman Road through the property. The rooms are clean, no balconies because nuns did not have this luxury. Choice of shower or bath. Breakfast, lunch or dinner is in the cellars that were once storerooms, very unusual but great to be in. Staff exceptionally helpfull and friendly, a great area in the centre for relaxing in if you do not want to go outside. The only drawback is that it is not within walking distance of Frascati. so much to see and do in the surrounding area. Trains from Frascati go direct into rome Teminii Station if you want to spend the day there

Room Tip: For a wonderful view at night across to Rome ask for a room on that side of the hotel facing out.

We stayed here for 3 days. While the Villa Vecchia Hotel is very pretty inside and outside and has lovely grounds, we found the staff to be quite indifferent to our party of 4. When trying to book tours, the tour book was missing (there is only one copy) and no attempt to find it, so we did our own tours. Nothing is within walking distance but we did discover the lovely town of Frascati and Monte Porzio. Those towns are charming in that they lack the tourist hordes and all the tourist tee shirt shops and the restaurants in both towns were fabulous. Also nearby is a wonderful vineyard/olive grove that we toured, Old Minardi Farm House Wine Tours. The hotel should be promoting their local businesses. The breakfast buffet was adequate and the dining room very clean. I would stay in Frascati next time we go to the Rome area.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days as part of a Travelzoo deal. Hotel has free parking - which is the best part of the hotel. It's too far from town so you have to drive everywhere. Nothing within walking distance. Which wouldn't be a problem except that there is no parking. It's way too far from any public transportation so expect to pay 30 - 55 euros (one way) to get to the subway station (can't drive there because there is no parking). This hotel is way too far from Rome. We had a room on the main floor which was handicap accessible (we didn't need it). The bed is super uncomfortable but at least the bathroom was ok. If you happen to be a short person (I'm 5'2") expect to have your feet dangle off the toilet. I have never experienced that (even in handicap bathroom stalls). No wifi in the rooms, just in the lobby. Although this hotel was relatively inexpensive, the location makes up the difference with having to pay for the taxi rides. Spend a little more & make sure you stay near public transportation hubs or stay in Rome. We won't be back!!!

Internet in Lobby, nice restaurant in the Hotel, in short a great place to relax in between sight seeing. We first visited Castel Gandolfo nearby and then checked in just before dinner. We were able to travel nearby to the Super Mercado in Frascata, purchased some delightful 'antipasti' items and had a nice happy hour in our rooms sipping some excellent Sorrentino Wines (The terrazzo was a little chilly this evening) we had purchased the day before down in the Amalfi Region. We dined at the on premises Restaurant and enjoyed that very much in a relaxed setting and in preparation for our day in Rome to follow. Highly recommended!

Also, the desk clerk was most helpful in both getting us directions to the nearby subway station which we took into the Vatican vs the drive as well as providing change to us as we were in need of smaller euro currency.

This is a Grand Old Hotel with expansive grounds, plenty of parking and wonderful views. While the exterior may need a little TLC, the rooms and inside were fantastic. The front desk staff offered great advise on dining options, travel times etc. They hand drew the most accurate map to the Metro for us, and even had a boxed breakfast waiting for us on our final morning when we had to leave by 5AM. Even though it was the low season, the breakfast buffet was expansive.

Room Tip: Even the highway side room was quiet and had a great view
