“Lovely Relaxing Family Art Holiday at the Portuguese coast”
Reviewed 17 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Casa Oasis is a cosy cottage that easily sleeps a family of 4. It is located in a secluded orchard garden in a rural area but less then 5 min drive from a variety of beaches. It is also close to the village of Sao Martinho do Porto which is a lovely little town, and has a great beach next to a quiet bay (which makes a change from the rugged coast line where swimming is not to be recommended especially if you have younger children).
But what set this holiday truly apart were our daily art lessons with Samantha and Kit in their neighbouring art studio. Every morning we were served a nice breakfast on the cottage terrace, and then we went to the studio for a couple of hours devoted to art. We covered quite a few techniques and Samantha and Kit ran the courses in such a way that the whole family was engaged. After the mornings' lesson they served us lunch and then we were free the rest of the day. They gave us some tips on what to visit and we had a great time.
Looking for a family break with a twist, I would definitely recommend this.

“Rustic, simple, unfussy accomodation”
Reviewed 22 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

The villa is easy to find and in a lovely secluded dip in a little village. The garden is private and quite. The terrace is vine and bougainvillea hung.....heavenly.
The villa has all basic holiday needs covered. The bed is exceptionally comfortable and the wood burning stove was marvellous on the one cold damp night that we had. The kitchen is fairly basic but I expect cooking will be minimal with the amount sea food restaurants in the area. The oven is poor. The décor is unglamorous but charmingly Med-Rural!
I would recommend this villa to all of my friends, the only mild criticisms that I have is that it did smell a little damp on the first nigh, I suspect we were the first visitors of the season so maybe it had not been aired for a while, also it is pretty clean but not spotless!
On the plus side the owner could not have been more friendly and helpful and it is very reasonably priced compared to similar properties in the area. It really feels as though you are staying in a proper genuine old Portuguese cottage.

Management Response

Thank you for the helpful review. Please note that the areas for improvement noted and addressed. Apologies for spiders web above cooker - will be extra careful to thoroughly clean this area in future! Yes, the cooking facilities are aimed at the holiday guest: the gas cooker is of fairly "rustic" design but it does have 4 gas rings that work very well. In addition there is a microwave oven (and now a sandwich maker). The oven part of the gas cooker is not very effective and is due to be replaced. We try to ensure there is no dampness in the property (yes this reviewer was the first guest early in the season), hence the electric blanket as well as wood burning fire and heaters. Thanks again for the review.

“Rustic retreat in secluded spot”

Had a great stay at Casa Oasis, unwound from the stresses of life in this sunny, secluded and peaceful location. Lovely aroma of pines in the garden and picturesque windmill with sails at top of drive. Enjoyed the simple things of life easily accessible from here: fresh and natural vegetables from the market and nice local fish and easy access to bay for sunset views. Enjoyed reading on the sunny terrace by day and once the barbecue had died down, cosy late nights by the wood burner with a good local port!
