“Best Holiday Ever!”
Reviewed 8 August 2014 via mobile

Was an absolutely wonderful experience. As a Muslim guest I throughly enjoyed its alcohol free environment, divine halaal cuisine and its prayer facilities. The rooms were extremely spacious and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. There were so many activities to choose from but I particularly enjoyed the Predator rehabilitation centre- this is a very rare place to find as it is one of its kind- Kwantu hand rears and rehabilitates orphaned, endangered and injured predators and thereafter re-wilds them. An unforgettable experience. I wish Kwantu all the best for the future and hope that they grow from strength to strength. Look forward to another relaxing visit at Kwantu!

Our family holiday at kwantu was definitely an unforgettable one!
Accommodation - much larger than standard 5-star hotel room, very comfortable, clean and luxurious.
Food - delicious, generous portions, well-presented and very tasty!
Game drive, predator camp and touch farm - definitely the highlight! We got to see the big 5, up close and personal. Kwantu educates their game rangers in such a way that they differ from other reserves. Seeing so many animals in their natural habitat is a wonderful sight.
Overall, an awesome experience and great value for money compared to any other holiday. Thanks Kwantu!!

I stayed at Kwantu Game reserve for 2 nights in mid June. The whole experience was good, the game drives were amazing. We spotted lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos and many more on our game drives.
The only problem is that by no standards it is a five star game reserve as they claim. I stayed at the Lions View Wing, the rooms were big with mini kitchen and sofa, but i could see paint chipping off at many places, which is not expected out of a 5 star lodge. The lack of phones in the rooms was also a problem as the reception is about 200 metres away from the rooms.
The rangers are are very well educated and trained, they can spot many animals from far away and will make very effort that u don't go home disappointed.

I chose Kwantu Game Reserve coz it was on every Indian tourist companys itinerary..also i followed the reviews(ours was booked through Thomas cook on Private basis in DEC2013) but I would say that food quality n restaurant manager is not that up to the mark. The day we(family of 3) arrived he staff denied the lunch as they dont have a policy to serve lunch on the arrival day...only some snack n refreshments...I was shocked...i had to call my agent in Delhi..it was so embarrassing!...then we had to wait for an hour n more to get a vegetable n rice in meal.N STALE bread..disgusting!..I had the impression that if INDIAN groups are so frequent here then the staff is must be tuned to he Indian choicen reqiurement but sorry to say they r not aptly equipped ...2/5...
only for the SAFARIs n Rangers (esp.MARK) we could enjoy the place..thanks to them..

Dear Sonia

Many thanks for sharing your comments with us on TripAdvisor.

It would seem that your main issue was the food which seemed to have spoilt your experience, in particular, the lunch on your day of arrival.

There seems to have been some miscommunication between yourself and your agent, as lunch is not included on the day of arrival (check in time 2pm).

In the interests of customer satisfaction, we then prepared fresh food for your group to serve for lunch as this was not done in advance (as lunch was not included nor booked with us). No fresh naan was prepared for your group as this was not on the menu, but due to the insistence of your group, and after advising you of this fact, we were advised by your group to still serve the naan which was prepared a few hours earlier on.

We trust that this puts your experience into perspective.

Kind regards
The Kwantu Family

I was wondering before what i would feel when i would be infront of wild animals in an open jeep. This experience came true during my stay at Kwantu, the place, the experience I really cherish.I had a visit to Kwantu with my wife and child on a vacation from 11th may to 13th may. .We had 3 game drives during our stay, each of which we enjoyed a lot.The experience was really thrilling. The rangers were very cooperative and in real sense they were the exact guides we wanted on such thrilling drives.
The hotel rooms were spacious n comfortable with a beautiful view.Only hesitation we had during our stay in the hotel,at the beginning we observed a stain on the toilet seat.Of course, the staffs were efficient enough to clean it quickly on our request. We enjoyed all the meals along with the high tea in the evening. We enjoyed very much the cultural program arranged by the local folk.
We also had a visit to the predator rehabilitation center which was also a good experience. We had an excellent stay at Kwantu.

My previous visits were three years ago. The game reserve is alcohol free and caters for people from all religious denominations who wants to spend a few days in an alcohol free environment while enjoying nature. Muslim prayer rooms available for men and women. Two churches on the property.

A new section called Lion's View, consisting of 10 units added on since my last visit. You will hear the roar of the lions during the day and all night long. The units are very well furnished with a small kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, microwave oven, stove, etc. Meals are included in the different packages. Only Halaal foods are available. My group of 16 tourists were vegetarian and from the Jain community. They thoroughly enjoyed their 3-5 course meals.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

The game drives were wonderful while we were searching for Africa's Big 5. A walking safari to the Predator Rehabilitation Centre was one of the highlights, where we saw tigers and white lions.

A cultural show was offered to the guests, to witness and participate in Xhosa and Zulu dances and songs. For the children a games centre is available offering various indoor and outdoor activities. A new swimming pool has been added for the hot Summer months. Lounges are available for relaxation whilst sitting in front of the log fires during the cold Winter evenings.

Another highlight is the afternoon High Tea. I recommend a minimum of 2 nights to fully appreciate Kwantu Private Game Reserve. The Kwantu Elephant Sanctuary is about 20 minutes away and offers interaction with elephants. It is an ideal honeymoon, family and group destination.

A special thanks to Elliot, the kitchen staff and game rangers for going out of their way for my guests.

Room Tip: The Lions View apartments if you want to hear the roar of lions and ideal for bigger groups.

The game ranger was very knowledgeable and was so patient in answering all the questions that my kids had about the wild animals! The Game drive was excellent and we were close to animals. The kids were soo excited when they saw a lion so close and personal. The food was superb! Very hospitable, we were treated like royalty. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to all our needs. We really enjoyed the Kwantu experience and would definitely visit them again! Thank you to all the staff at Kwantu for an amazing experience!
