Griesemount is a charming Georgian house in a remote area near the village of Ballytore in County Kildare. The owners, Robert and Carolyn Ashe are personable and very welcoming and of course very knowledgeable about both the house and the area. They have preserved the character of the building very well, no mean feat in this day and age. The guest house operation is small and well managed. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is above average with well-chosen ingredients which are freshly cooked. What more does one need from a bed and breakfast facility?

Stayed with a few friends at Griesemount after traveling to Ireland from United States. The accommodations were terrific, cozy, convenient and beautiful, but the highest praise goes to Carolyn the house keeper.

Carolyn met us at the front door, showed us the house and spoke briefly about the area. She was always available for an advice, great breakfast or even help with cleaning a dress shirt :) The house was in great shape, tailored to every need we had. comfortable and clean rooms with beautiful views. BRING YOUR CAMERA, this area is amazing.

Griesemount made our visit to Ireland stress free and enjoyable, and I would recommend to anyone traveling to the area.

PS
2 black labs keen on playing fetch that live outside of the house provide great morning entertainment.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 2 bed room, but having seen the rest of the rooms, you can't go wrong there.

Thank you Anton for that great review. On our part we just loved having you and your friends here, It's fun when a group of friends stay for a wedding at Rathsallagh, it makes for a real house party, especially as you stayed the weekend. As for Corrie and Zola, they had the time of their lives, I'll not forget the sight of you four boys out with the labs on the slope whilst Wimbledon was on, definitely a much better use of a tennis ball!

We stayed at Griesemount for 2 days for a wedding in Rathsallagh. It was a wonderful place to stay and was convenient and close to Rathsallagh. Carolyn was extremely helpful and very sweet. We couldnt have hoped for a better host!

I have been a regular guest at Griesemount House over a period of five years and I cannot recommend the house highly enough. Carolyn and Robert are amazing hosts - warm, welcoming and friendly. Their level of service goes above and beyond what you might normally expect from a stay at a B & B and it always feels like a home from home for me. Choose Griesemount ! You won't be disappointed and I guarantee you'll be planning your next stay before you know it !

We arrived at Griesemount after a long journey from West cork with two tired young children. We received a very warm welcome from Carolyn and Robert. The house is beautiful in a gorgeous setting with generously sized rooms and bathrooms. The bed was extremely comfortable. Carolyn couldn't do enough to be accommodating and it really made a difference when we were wanting to get the children settled for the night. We had a fabulous time here and would thoroughly recommend it for couples and families alike. Don't miss the chance to stay at Griesemount.

We had a wonderful evening with welcome drinks in the drawing room and a simple and very tasty supper with our host and hostess. Then we had a blissful night's sleep in our huge canopied bed. A lovely early morning walk followed by a delicious breakfast completed this idyllic interlude.

Room Tip: room with four poster and en suite bathroom recommended

From the moment I lifted the phone to book a night at Griesemount, I knew we were in for a treat. I rang on the day we needed a bed - a Thursday night - and despite having the house fully booked for the weekend, Carolyn agreed to fit four of us in and then offered us supper too! She met us on the doorstep later that day and ushered us in to the most delightful Georgian house, with a roaring fire in the drawing room, where we were made to feel totally at home. Robert arrived in shortly after and we all sat talking, as though we had known each other for years. We had the most delicious dinner and great evening full of laughter, followed by an extremely comfortable night. We enjoyed a circular walk in the morning through the pretty Quaker village before tucking into a superb breakfast and heading off for the wedding of a friend. Staying at Griesemount was the perfect start to a very special and hugely enjoyable weekend. Thank you Carolyn and Robert for your exceptional hospitality and we look forward to returning soon.

Thank you Belinda for your flattering review. That was such a fun evening and as you say, it was very relaxed, easy and you were all so good humoured, it was contagious!!
That is a nice walk you did in the morning but the next time you will have to take in the Quaker Graveyard as well. Just the simplicity of it with it's old high stone wall with a little gap to get in and then in May, when you were with us, it would have been full of bluebells under the old trees.
I like too the thought that George Shackleton who built our house in 1817 is buried there, along with numerous other family members. Just being there gives a sense of local community.
Anyway I'm rabbiting on...so will stop but please come and see us again when you are over....we are so glad you lifted that phone!! Carolyn and Robert
