I booked River View just a few days before our trip, as my husband and I were both desperate for a short break. It was wonderful! We were greeted by the welcome sight of a pot of tea and fresh baked scones laid on a cloth on the table, with a vase of sweet peas, a home grown cucumber and six of their free range eggs! Astrid and her family are the most thoughtful, generous, welcoming hosts we have ever stayed with, keeping a pot of herbs on the terrace for us, (plus a massive barbecue), letting me charge up my mobility scooter in their barn etc etc. The little kindnesses never stopped! I have multiple chemical sensitivities, so Astrid had removed all "smelly" things, whilst keeping all the lovely, comfortable cushions, rugs and furnishings that make it all so pretty. The views from every window, the outside terrace and the steps are breathtakingly beautiful, and it is oh so quiet! The only noises we heard were chickens, and that's fine by us! Pateley Bridge is just a few minutes walk/ wheelchair /scooter ride along the riverside path, and I swear that village is populated by the friendliest people in England! We had the best break ever, and have booked to go back in November. Bring it on!
