I stayed for one night in a superior double room, including a three course meal. To start with we were warmly greeted.

I,d read some negative reviews about the room but can not disagree with them more. The room was split over two level, on the ground floor you had the tv sofa etc and upstairs a large kings size bed with en suite which had a separate shower and bath. Have to say that the bed is one of the most comfortable I've slept in.

Now the main reason for the visit was to enjoy the food created by Francis Atkins, and it was simply sublime. For starters I enjoyed the squad pigeon which was fantastic. As for the main I opted for the red deer with kidney and liquorice. Now I have to admit I'm not a great fan of the liquorice but this went beautifully with the deer and the clean plate said it all. For desert I opted for the Szechuan desert which was a mixes of sorbet, meringue deserts. All being delicious.

If any negative and I am being nick picky here, was that no sooner had we finished our starters the main course arrived immediately after. (A couple of minutes rest would have been nice). Also breakfast is only served until 930 at the weekend.

Other than that, what a great treat and thank you to the York Arms for a great experience.

We visited last November and decided we would like to come back and stay overnight........so so sooooooooo glad we did, we loved it.

The staff are very attentive, friendly and not too intrusive..................nothing is too much effort. There were only 3 other couples dining in the restaurant and staying overnight........hence it was a really relaxed intimate evening.......it was just perfect for us!!!! We were recognised from our previous visit and slightly terrifying journey over from Masham....this was nice and made you feel special and a valued guest.

We were there on the DBB deal.............light afternoon tea on arrival, champagne cocktail before dinner, 7 course tasting menu, including two glasses of wine, a lovely lovely room (Pheasant) and breakfast in the morning.

The afternoon tea sat in front of a roaring fire in the guest lounge was really nice and very atmospheric...........just enough so as not to spoil your appetite for evening meal.

Our room was at the front of the building looking out over the green and church and was just beautiful................everything you could want was provided...................little home made flapjack and brownie........a comfy comfy bed...tea coffee etc and fresh milk in the fridge.......robes are provided...............and the cleanest freshest sheets and linen. The bathroom was compact but good use had been made of the space and the bath was fabulous for a nice long soak before dinner, making full use of the complimentary molton brown toiletries.

The champagne cocktail and kir royale before dinner along with the canapés were delightful and set the scene for the evening ahead. We were asked about any dietary requirements, which was good.

All of the food without exception was sublime, mouthwatering and delicious from the amouse bouche to the lychee soufflé and cheese board.................the halibut was so white and flaky, and the hare loin and leg was just absolutely out of this world. The wine was selected by the staff and was perfect for the courses they were served with.......................we did ask for the names to be written down for us so we are able to source them again.

The petit fours and fresh mint tea to round off the meal sat in the lounge were delightful.....a good selection and all of them so soooooooooooooooo tempting and sooooooooooooo delicious.

You will sleep like a log whilst there, it so dark and so peaceful and the bed is just so comfortable.

The breakfast was very relaxed with a good selection of yoghurts, fruit salad etc...the cooked breakfast was delicious and the yolk of the poached egg was the yellowest I have ever seen. I asked for a decaffeinated coffee and the young lady serving us was worried that it wouldn't be okay...........no need to worry ............it was perfect!!!!

Thank you to everyone for such a wonderful wonderful visit, we both absolutely loved it, your attention detail and service was second to none..............a wonderful team effort.

We managed to make our way to Masham, this time in the daylight and much better weather conditions.....thank once again for the directions........xxxxx

we have stayed here a number of times had parties there and had dinners and lunches over a number of years
I was disappointed the last time after so many years of dining to be charged £50 corkage when I celebrated with 2 friends a 25th wedding anniversary meal in the main dining room especially when I hadn't been told I would be charged anything
But the food is sublime and the rooms comfortable and old fashioned ain a good way

From the moment we arrived we were treated wonderfully. It was my mothers 70th birthday and we were here for a family treat, and treat it indeed was. The staff were thoroughly charming and attentive and the manager was softly spoken and incredibly gentlemanly, he made us feel very special. We had courtyard rooms, which are on 2 floors. The rooms are small but bijoux and cosy. The fitted furniture in the bedrooms was a little practical, but otherwise the rooms were very pleasant and the bed comfortable.
The food is the main reason to come to the Yorke Arms and it did not let us down. I think the meal rates for all four of us as one of the best we have ever had, sumptuous flavours and attentive service.
Set in beautiful scenery, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a weekend stay.

Arrived here on a friday afternoon after driving a few hours from Lake District and Holbeck Ghyll. This being a part of my 40th b-day trip with 8 friends we had picked Yorke Arms as our second and last stop from Michael Winterbottoms "The Trip" before we continued to Manchster for some football.

We knew it would be hard to beat Holbeck Ghyll, but the hotel and surroundings we're almost equally beautiful and after a long drive it was nice to sit down in their garden with a pint of ale.

The rooms appointed will recieve sort of mixed reviews though. Me and one friend got the attic room and we kept bangin our head everywhere. Even though we tried to walk with bent knees. Since we didn't stay much in the room, this wasn't a major issue, but it's quite irritating to have to walk like that when you're as old as we are...
Two other in our group got a room we're the bathroom had no door. Intentionally. So doing the no. 2 business was kinda painful they reported.

Our rate included three course dinner and yorkshire breakfast. Good deal I would say.

Pre dinner cocktails and canapees in the lounge were terrific. For starter I had the rabbit terrine and this was just OK. Others who had the quail we're more pleased.
My Brill with linguini for main course was just splendid. The best main I had on this trip.
My raspberry dessert with some cremee brulee and baba was quite boring actually.

Wine suggestions we're all good and not expensive at all.

The low ceiling aside our room was modern and large. Bed comfy. Shower pressure and they way to manage the hot and the cold could've been better though. Very ease to burn yourself.

Nice and friendly staff. Perhaps a bit too formal sometimes during dinner. And the old bartender didn't know the difference between a dry martini and a Martini Bianco cocktail.

Breakfast was great and surroundings we're splendid.

I booked a superior double and we were allocated room 5, which overlooks the greens in front of the hotel. It was spacious, being the full depth of the hotel and very comfortable. Plenty of storage space too.

There was fresh milk in the fridge - a great touch - and I wish more hotels would do it. Also in the fridge were the most expensive miniatures of gin I have ever seen, at an eye-watering £9.00 each for 50ml : they remained unopened.

The bathroom was disappointing, the shower being over an over-large acrylic bathtub that was lethally slippery to stand in. Nice toiletries and towels though.

Apart from this, nothing to complain about. We had a great meal followed by a great night's sleep.

A teapot and nicer china would be welcome additions.

On a final note, the Yorke Arms is not a pub, though perhaps unfortunately, it does look like one and indeed, once was. Somehow, the staff have to put this across to casual visitors without being rude : perhaps a well-worded notice to that effect would help.

A great stay and we will be back.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a superior

Stayed for a midweek special event overnight DBB. Super set ting in unsung Nidderdale. Top range room had very comfortable sitting room, ideal in poor weather, and an average size bedroom upstairs. All fittings and furnishings of high quality with well appointed bathroom. The food is the centre piece. Dining room was almost full on Tuesday evening. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. The only negative was the rather pompous female front of house who moved us on from our chat with fellow guests at dinner. Bar lights started to go off when we moved through to the lounge. We felt we were in the way. Take your walking gear because Ramsgill is in the middle of beautifully unspoilt Dales countryside.
