Everything was great at this hotel. It was so clean, they washed the lobby many times a day. Not a Spot anywere. Our room was cleaned every day, and towels were changed every day. The reception staff was very polite, the waiters and rest of the staff at the hotel were smiling and doing the best for us all time. The food was great. The music in the evening was faboulus. The garden was lovely. Good. side pool. We could not find a better hotel in Petrovac.

Went there not aware it was supposedly 4 star and it seemed OK. we had a room on the side away from the town which was lucky as the building and work going on next door could have been a nuisance. Good choice of breakfast but it got a little monotonous by the end of the week. Dinner in the evenings was self service and had good salad choices. Main courses were OK, if a little greasy. Fish was always on offer but no clue as to which type of fish. Two gripes - firstly no plug in the basin (all rooms affected I believe), so take a multi fit rubber one and secondly, it's quicker to get a drink from a bar about 100 yards away! I cannot understand why they never seem to have someone behind the bar. Staff are probably too thin on the ground. However, staff are usually very helpful and polite and do an excellent cleaning job. TV in rooms but they don't always pick up BBC World Service.
Sadly Petrovac is suffering with a glut of large hotels being built. It must have been a charming town, but get there quick before all charm has disappeared. Not at all expensive in the town. If possible have a good selection of change as they don't like notes and change can be a problem in some shops.

Room Tip: Rooms 201, 203, 205 and most of the odd numbers are on the better side of the hotel

We booked and prepaid 2 Family rooms in early spring for our summer vacation.
When we arrived in the hotel, we were told that the hotel is fully booked and were placed in other hotel for 1 night.
On the next day we were checked in, but got standard rooms instead of family rooms (which we booked and prepaid!!! months before our visit!).
The front desk manager wasn’t able to assist, she only shifted the blame to her co-worker who made the booking. After 20 min of useless disputes the hotel manager eventually turned up.
Vladimir (the GM of the hotel) appeared to be even more unprofessional and useless.
He was also shifting the blame to the person who made the reservation (his subordinate!) and haven’t even tendered an apology.
His comments to the situation were the following:
- “It’s not me, who made the reservation for you”
- “I took the role of the GM only one month ago”
- “I can’t make any upgrades or compliments or discounts (as part of an apology) without the Revenue Manager and the Chief Accountant”

Why are you a GM then? What is your role at all?

My advise is: choose another hotel (there are lots in Petrovac). In case you have already booked this one, call the hotel a few days prior your arrival to be sure you get the room you paid for.

I stayed at this hotel for a week with HF Holidays in May. I found the staff to be charming and helpful, although there are definitely a few features missing that I would expect to find in a four-star hotel. For instance, no porter to take luggage to the rooms.
The rooms are ample, although not luxurious. For those who are vertically challenged such as myself, the wardrobe presented a bit of a challenge - at. 5'3" tall, I was unable to reach the shelves above the hanging area of the wardrobe without a chair! I guess this is because most Montnegrins are gloriously tall, and the fixtures are built to accommodate them.
The hotel has beautiful, well-maintained gardens, with a scrupulously clean pool. It is a heartbeat away from the beach with its lovely promenade, restaurants and shops, and there is a general store just across the road. What a charming place.
The food left something to be desired, but was on a par with many half-board deals elsewhere.
Not sure how this hotel will fare once the super-duper resort hotel next door is finished ...

The Rivijera rates itself as 4 star and this may well have been true a few years ago. However, times have moved on and we expect air-con which actually works rather than just blowing warm air around. The breakfasts were greasy and un-appetising. We didn't eat other meals here but, glancing at them as we went out each night, they looked to be of the same quality!

Our room (superior double) was large but had a small balcony. Unfortunately it was completely overlooked by trees. This looked to be true for many rooms with the exception of some of the suites but even these did not have an unobstructed view. Some of the rooms were above tree level but they looked out on other rooms, rather than having a decent view. This is not what we expected and it took the shine of our 11 night stay. The bathroom was out-dated with a shower over a bath. The shower curtain did not stop water leaking onto the floor so you had to use the hand-held attachment to avoid this.

The hotel is aimed at the Russian family market - apart from one other couple we were the only english guests. So, a lot of screaming kids around the pool but I have to say that the Russian adults themselves were pretty well behaved, unlike some Brits abroad!

There is a small gym but no aircon in it apart from open windows!

The hotel is one of those with that silly 'no food or drink to be consumed in your room' rule which is, of course, unenforceable but so annoying. There are minibars in the rooms. We emptied ours and kept our own drinks in it.

We felt that it was expensive for what we got. Oh, a word or two about booking.com. I had originally emailed the hotel to see if I could get a better rate than they were quoting. Time dragged on with no reply so, eventually, I booked via them. Big mistake! Eventually I received a reply from the hotel quoting a dinner, bed & breakfast price which turned out to be £100 cheaper than booking.com's B&B price! Booking.com's reservation was non-cancellable. so, my advice would be NEVER book with them until you've got a direct quote.

The town of Petrovac is quite pleasant with some good value restaurants but, even in early June, it was over-run with tourists. There are two or three large hotels being built so, by next year, it's going to be hell on earth in July or August.

We had a week's walking holiday here in May and thoroughly enjoyed it. Petrovac is tucked away with good access to both sea and mountains and a fantastic inland lake. The room was large, beautifully looked after and quiet with easy access to the small but beautiful cove with its relaxed cafes. Staff were friendly and helpful and, the food was plentiful but could do with a bit more variety. A night walk with torches through the eerie coastal tunnels to a weird gigantic unfinished hotel and even more secluded beach with an amazing WW2 story attached to it is recommended for the brave.

Room Tip: First floor rooms seem larger but probably not as quiet as higher up where we were.

Stayed here recently with HF Holidays. The hotel is very well appointed with very good rooms all of which have a balcony. The gardens and pool are lovely and it is only minutes from the beach although that is very course sand/gravel. The staff are pleasant but despite the fact they have a very nice bar, there was no barman when I was there. I think he doubles as a table clearer at mealtimes and it was difficult to get a drink before dinner. Unfortunately they let themselves down with their food. Virtually the same each evening and what there was was the worst food I have had on holiday anywhere in the world. Plenty of it, if you could eat it. If they do something about the food it would be top notch.
