“Best stay of our lives”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

our stay at the rocabella in mykonos was simply amazing! it began with our arrival at the hotel where we were greeted by Tasos with glasses of champagne and hellos like we were friends returing home. He took us to the balcony of the lobby to show us a map of the island so we could see the island as he pointed out places to eat that he enjoyed the nightlife places to rent
ATVs and mopeds and of corse the windmills he insisted we must go see. after our champagne and welcome our bags were brought to our room which he had upgraded us to the suite since construction made our room unavailable. the room was amazing! huge bed nice bathroom large space and our own balcon with a jacuzzi hot tub and sun chairs, not to mention the amazing view of the sea, the port, and the city. it wasnt much more than 3o minutes into our stay that tasos came up to our room with chocolate fondue and that night he came to our room to give us goodnight chocolates, unbelievable! the breakfast was great it was exactly what you expect greek breakfast some pastries some cheeses fruit meat and veggies, the yogurt was awesome! dont expect american style and you wont be dissapointed! tasos regularily offered us rides into town and to anywhere we wanted or to pick us up whenever we wanted, we took him up on it one day when we went into town to see the parade for i believe was the islands memorial day. one day my girlfriend had gotten too much sun and had a bit of a burn tasos apologized for not warning us of the sun if you can believe that, and the next morning after breakfst our room was cleaned and we found sun burn care lotions of all kinds for her. the trip and stay in mykonos was amazing! and i can honestly say it was almost 100% because of tasos. he was the nicest hotel manager or concierge or host that we ever encountered on our trips. we enjoyed it so much we looked into the rocabella in santorini which was our next stop that was ufortunatley not open yet. Best hotel ive stayed at hands down!

My fiancé and I spent four nights in a honeymoon suite at the Rocabella. The room was beautiful, clean, with comfortable bedding, and an amazing assortment of pillow choices. We opened the door to find a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolate strawberry fondue. The semi private balcony was spacious revealing a fantastic view and our own hot tub. Complimentary shuttle was provided to the shops and restaurants in old town Mykonos, just a few minutes from the hotel. The hotel has its own restaurant near the pool and offers excellent non-traditional greek food for dinner. If you want the usual greek fare, the tavernas in old town fit the bill. We liked the food so much, we chose to eat here twice out of our four nights in Mykonos. The included breakfast with our room, also provided by this restaurant, and was an incredible array of delicious Greek breads, homemade jellies, yoghurt, fruits, varieties of eggs, meats, cheese and spinach pies. So good!

As happy as we were with these accommodations, the staff of Rocabella is what remains memorable to us. Maria at the front desk is friendly, knowledgable and will help you with anything you need during your stay. The crew seems to answer to Tassos (whom they respect and adore), who knows absolutely everything about Mykonos and is willing to assist. Alex is a wonderful shuttle driver and was of great help to us. Above all, two of the "kids" whom we encountered deserve special mention. Demi is an absolute gem! She was our server at our two dinners at the hotel and bent over backwards to make us feel special. Friendly, professional, attentive, and just plain fun! The other fantastic employee is her male counterpart, Demitris. We encountered him daily at our breakfast mornings and fell in love with him, too. When we said goodbye on our last day, it was as if we were saying goodbye to friends.....quite an unexpected delight.
If we ever return to Mykonos, would definitely stay at the Rocabella again!

We arrived for a one week stay expecting a nice experience but the staff at Rocabella far far exceeded our expectations! From the moment we arrived until the moment we were taken to the airport by Alex we were constantly surprised and delighted by he quality of attention given to guests at Rocabella. The attention to detail was outstanding! From the aromatherapy greeting us at bedtime, the chocolates, an various other treats that appeared randomly to the warm smiles and conversation of he staff, nothing was left to chance. Every evening we were cheerfully shuttled into town and picked up at a time of our choosing. Upon our return we opened our room to be greeted by the warm flow of candlelight and soothing scents. The bed was supremely comfortable with soft sheets and your choice of pillows. As far as cleanliness, I have never seen better. With he brightness of the ambient light in Mykonos and the white paint everywhere it would be easy to spot if everything wasn't up to snuff. The breakfast was Varied and very tasty, accommodating any dietary requirement. The hospitality staff were amazing. What else can we say?
Nothing but positive comments on this charming, welcoming and friendly home away from home.

Overview:
Wow. Where to start with the Rocabella? If you're looking for luxury and comfort in a great location, look no further! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome. Tasos greeted us and showed us a map of the island, sharing his extensive knowledge and recommending points of interest. We were then treated to a tour of the hotel and pool area and shown to our room. We had been upgraded (how lovely!) and our room most certainly had the wow factor. Room 108 was spacious, tastefully decorated, light and just gorgeous. We had a lovely big bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and a large terrace with a lovely view. I was on cloud nine as we started to unpack and then came a tap at the door and we were treated to a delicious snack. I wont go into too much detail as I don't want to spoil all the surprises but rest assured the staff go to great lengths to ensure their guests feel welcome and get a little treat every day.

Breakfast:
Oh where to start? Breakfast is absolutely brilliant. There is a great selection of hot and cold food, juices, fruit and cereal. The greek yoghurt and cheese and spinach pastries are to die for. I'm veggie so couldn't comment on the breakfast meat but my partner loved it. Eating breakfast in the sun overlooking the sea every morning was amazing and I miss it already. We'd often head over to the buffet and on our return there would be a little treat waiting for us. Yummy!!

Lunch/Dinner:
We ate at the hotel's Ergon restaurant on our first evening and then had two more meals from there as we were so impressed with the food! Every meal was absolutely delicious, well presented and served promptly. I beg you, try the fries! Both kinds! The food wasn't overly costly either, probably on par with everywhere else we ate. I wish you guys delivered to the UK!!

Pool area:
I've read quite a few reviews making reference to the pool being cold. Obviously, in October the pool was fairly cold but being British, we went in anyway! We loved the pool and the general pool are and found it extremely relaxing. Staff around the pool are so attentive and are keen to ensure you are enjoying yourself. I have also read a review saying that the music at the pool area was unpleasant (seriously) but this is not the case! What could be unpleasant about relaxing music?? The area overlooks the sea and is so tranquil. Amazing.

Staff:
The staffing is excellent. Imagine some of the nicest people you've ever met doing something they love: that is the Rocabella. Everyone is so so friendly and considerate. I particularly loved Tasos and Demitris who always stopped to chat and made us feel so welcome.

Honestly, this is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. We came to Mykonos on a total fluke (we heard it mentioned on a cartoon and thought, why not?) and what a happy fluke it turned out to be! Mykonos is a beautiful island and I'm glad i trusted Tripadvisor to find a hotel. Please bear in mind, the Rocabella isn't the Four Seasons (I only say this as some of the reviews seem to be expecting this type of hotel); it is understated luxury and comfort in an intimate setting. Myself and my boyfriend are completely in love with the Rocabella and we can't wait to come back!

Thank you all so much for making us feel so welcome. We had such an amazing holiday and miss the Rocabella already! <3

Probably one of the most expensive Hotels we have ever stayed in the world, but if you book directly with the Hotel and go in Seprember which is just out of high season you will get a better deal.

Maria and the staff at reception were very helpful prior to arrival in helping us per book Motor Bikes from nearby OK Rentals which is a really great idea if you want to see the whole Island.

The staff were very welcome upon arrival and served refreshing drinks and a romantic candle lit snack in the room.

We staying for one week in August which was longer than most guests and has the benefit of a large room with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which was more than we had expected however we paid extra for a superior room which was very spacious with a good size terrace and rooms overlooking the ocean and the port.

Whilst a Jacuzzi was included we did report this was cold and the management did take 2 days to fix it which was irritating. However the owner got wind of this problem and refunded the difference in price between a Superior Room and one without Jacuzzi which was a fair compromise.

Tassos the Manager was extremely amusing and helped to organize our day excursions and gave us some very good ( but pricy) Restaurant recommendations.

Hotel and Pool area was very clean, breakfast was extensive and food in Restaurant was of high quality if a little limited in choice.

Would go back again in September if the rates do not increase, as this was one of the most expensive on the Island.

As soon as we got to the hotel we got a fantastic welcome and introduction to the hotel and island by Tasos. Our room was comfortable and clean, I loved the idea of being able to choose my own scents and pillow type and I loved that we would come back to the room with candles lit and a little gift. Maria was particularly helpful with organising things and providing recommendations and Dimitri was a great bar tender (although responsible for giving my husband the lethal royal mojito haha) and was great in recommending some of his own drink mixes. But all the staff were completely fantastic and fun to be around. Although a little out of town the transfer service was great, and our driver was fantastic and friendly too! The pool and restaurant were fantastic too. Oh and one more thing.. hiring a car was sooo easy. Maria rang up and it was delivered to the hotel in 15mins and we left the keys at reception for them to come and collect. Great service, wouod definitely stay here again.
