We booked for a 6 day stay at Hotel Liana during early May 2013, not realising at the time of making the reservation that our stay would fall within the Greek Easter period (which took place very late this year, 5 weeks after Easter in Western Europe - apparently the latest in the past 30 years). To our shock and disappointment we discovered that we had arrived in a ghost town, with virtually all accommodations, shops and restaurants in the Agios Prokopios area still being closed, as the tourist season basically starts after Easter. One or two tiny supermarkets with the bare necessities seemed to be open during the day, but closed from late afternoon. We did not see any other visitors around - either on the deserted streets or the beach. Public transport (buses) were also on a very limited schedule and we were advised by the owner to rather use taxi's if we wanted to go anywhere - which would have to be ordered from Naxos town. As it was not warm enough to swim yet and we would not be able to have lunch or dinner in Agios Prokopios (or buy groceries to prepare our own meals in our apartment) , there really would have been very little for us to do for the whole week. For that reason we moved to another hotel in Naxos town, where all the Easter festivities were taking place and we would have more to do and see and transport would not be required. The owner was very understanding, probably realising that our experience of Naxos would have been a very sad and negative one had we stayed on in Agios Prokopios. Timing therefore is of the utmost importance - if you want to experience the true beauty and pleasure of a beach-town like Agios Prokopios.
That said, our apartment at Hotel Liana was lovely - 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchenette and balcony. The apartment is modern and well-equipped, also with TV, Wi-Fi and airconditioning. One has a fantastic view of the beach from the balcony. The owner takes care to ensure that the hotel and gardens are in good shape (there are some deserted and neglected neighbouring properties, so the difference is easily noticeable). Breakfast was great - a fresh and wide selection. The hotel is located right on the beach front. If you plan to stay in Agios Prokopios during peak season, hotel Liana would definitely be a great option!
