Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort

We spent 4 nights at the Mykonos Grand to explore the island. The hotel is well located, in a secluded nest, with its own private beachfront and everything needed to relax (swimming pool, jacuzzi, spa, etc.). The island of Mykonos is anyway very well preserved and most of the hotels feature the typical greek architecture with small whitewash houses and colorful shutters. The hotel looks like a tiny village by itself, yet you never feel like it is actually big, since the different parts are hanging on the cliff and connected to each others like a maze. All rooms offer an amazing postcard view on the Aegean see. What made this hotel such a unique and memorable experience was the top-notch service, which, for having tried several other luxury resorts worldwide, including within the SLH network, was certainly the best we ever experienced so far. The waiters are genuinely nice, yet with their presence being barely noticeable - but the minute you need something, they are standing right in front of you... Our experience was made even more enjoyable as we were given a romantic room where no one could see us as we stood on the balcony. Very good breakfast and attractive - yet somewhat expensive - catering options for lunch (incl. by the pool) and dinner. Definitely the best hotel on the island!

My wife & I stayed at Mykonos Grand in October 2011 for our Honeymoon for 5 days, and let me just say that I wish we had stayed for longer, I literally had to be dragged out of our room come check-out day!

We were given truly warm Grecian hospitality from the bus driver who picked us up at the airport in a brand new air conditioned coach and greeted us with a friendly smile and genuine "Welcome to Mykonos!" Upon check-in it seemed like the whole staff had been made aware that we were the honeymoon couple (although we weren't even staying in one of the more expensive suites), we felt like celebrities and were greeted politely without it ever being annoying or overbearing! We were then shown to the VIP check in desk and Nausika presented us with Champagne and took us through the usual check in procedures and then guided us around the resort complex and finally to our room which was beautifully appointed and had breathtaking views over Agios Giannis beach and out to the island of Delos. We also received a complimentary bottle of Ouzo and other nice local treats daily.

The staff were amazing and nothing was ever too difficult for them to arrange for us and even when my wife got bitten all over by mosquitos one night, they sent someone to pick up some ointments from the pharmacy at no charge at all. Nausika was brilliant at recommending activities for us to do and also restaurants, we were not once disappointed with the incredible places she recommended us to visit. For example the fish tavern, 'O Kounelas' was about to close for the winter season and we managed to get a table on their last night, it was probably the best fish I have ever eaten.

Breakfast was literally a champagne affair for us daily and one of the highlights for me during our stay at Mykonos Grand, where you could order your own omelet to be made fresh right in front of you. The choice and quality of the breakfast buffet was mind blowing.

Although there is plenty to see and do across the whole of Mykonos, you could easily spend 2 or 3 days just lazing by the seawater-fed pool or at the hotel's private beach which has bar service, or getting pampered in the day spa. There is also a gym for those who need to keep in shape while on holiday. I would also recommend hiring a Vespa or quad bike and exploring the island while also finding plenty of time to just chill at the hotel and make the most of the hotel's fantastic facilities.

If you are planning a trip to Mykonos, don't even consider booking anywhere else but Mykonos Grand! I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: I would recommend a sea view room with at least a double bed, as they are quite compact rooms and th...

We booked Mykonos Grand though the hotel's website in April 2011. Upon receiving confirmation we called the hotel to ensure us that our room would be non smoking. They confirmed us on the phone that our room would be NON SMOKING and airy. In August we checked in and they showed us our room which was a simply double room with the view to the sea and with a small wooden balcony NOT like the one shown in the website. When we asked the front office manager why there is so much difference between the website and our room he replied that we didn't request a room in the renovated section!!!!!
After that we went out to the balcony to enjoy the sunset and my wife had a shock!!! There was an ash tray under the table full of cigarette ends. She went into the room and she realized that even the curtains has a smell of cigarette. We asked to move us on another room and he told us that there is only a suite available nearly double priced. We refused to pay that money because it was their fault. My wife is allergic to cigarettes smell and as there was no other alternative we moved to the next door hotel Saint John's. When we get back home we discovered that Mykonos Grand has charged our credit card with the full amount of our booking even we didn't stay there.

Room Tip: If you like Aghios Giannis beach, prefer Saint John hotel.

After spending 4 nights in Oia at a fantastic bed-and-breakfast hotel, it was nice to stay at an upscale resort as a change of pace. This had all the amenities of a resort that we were looking for -- on the beach, great pool, nice rooms, good restaurants, etc. The service was excellent too, and the staff was on top of everything.

We also found the location of the hotel to be excellent, as it was only a 8-10 minute drive into Mykonos Town. Plus you can take the hotel bus that leaves every 30 min into town each night. I'd also recommend going through the hotel to rent ATVs and explore the beaches of the island; this was easily our most fun day in Mykonos,

I had a lot of friends say that a 5-star hotel in Greece isn't the same as a 5-star hotel in the U.S., but this hotel met all our expectations (and we stayed there for a reasonable price).

Room Tip: We selected a room with an ocean view and got a nice big patio (not sure if this was a complimentary...

At check in the front desk informed us that the junior suite we had booked was not available for the first two nights and we had to stay in a standard double room.
We had to pack and unpack twice during our 4 days stay in Mykonos.
The room was small ,clean very simply decorated not reminding that we are staying in a 5 star property.
Breakfast was good.
Very poor service and very small rooms.
The hotel provided us beach towels but when we went to the beach we realized that it was public and not private as it was advertised.
The beach was sandy and clean but as we were laying und the umbrella we were annoyed many times by some African peddlers. They were trying to sell us cheap replicas and this was happening all days.
The third day the hotel moved us to the suite we had initially booked and we had to pack and unpack again for the second time spending time from our holidays. The hotel was very simple and not like 5 star hotels.
The hotel did not reach our expectations although Mykonos island is amazing!
We shall come back to Mykonos but NOT to Mykonos Grand.

Yeia sas from Mykonos
Thank you for taking the time and sharing a review of your stay with us. We appreciate all comments shared but we think you might have stayed at another hotel in the area of Ayios Yiannis:
- We have no “junior suite” room type. The room types we offer are Garden View rooms, Sea View rooms, Superior rooms, Suites 1-4pax, Executive Suites, and Suites with private pool.
- We have no registered guest from Qatar staying with us during the whole summer 2011
- We do not advertise our beach as “Private”. Ayios Yiannis beach (just as all beaches on Mykonos) are public beaches, but on the public beach we have a reserved section for our guests’ exclusive use
- Our hotel beach is serviced and our beach attendants are trained no to leave peddlers annoy our hotel guests.
- Most important of all, we DO NOT DOWNGRADE hotel guests

i don't know what to mention first.. the service was excellent, all the staff was so friendly and made you feel as you knew them for years, keeping a balanced approach without being annoying!
the room was perfect as well as the bathroom! very clean and simple. the traditional mastiha liqueur they have as a welcome gift was delicious! the balcony was facing the endless blue and on evening i could enjoy a wonderful sunset, and the see the sky turn into many wonderful colors.
the food was excellent. decoration, taste, the way it was served.. everything perfect! a list of delicious greek wines is definitely recommended to the wine lovers. Breakfast was also great with a wide range of foods, and fresh fruits and juices!
there is also a spacious gym in the hotel, as well as a pathway/ route for jogging.
the hotel faces a beach with parasols and comfortable sunbeds and you can enjoy beautiful sea and the relaxing sound of the waves.
oh! i can't wait for my next trip to Greece!
