Owner description: The Chestnut Centre is an escape from the bustle of life, in a secluded natural valley in the Peak National Park. The centre is home to 4 species of otters including the rare Giant Otter, 15 species of owl, tame fallow deer in the deer herd, foxes, pine marten and the elusive, endangered Scottish Wildcat etc. Truly a ‘Hidden Gem in a Hidden Valley”.

This is a brilliant conservation park in the beautiful Peak District and well worth visiting. Beautiful deer, gorgeous playful otters, amazing owls, wildcats, foxes, pole cats and more. The setting is an open deer park and a shaded river valley. Don't go expecting to see everything as the animals don't appear on cue unless it's feeding time but be patient and you will be well rewarded. The staff are also brilliant and very dedicated. Afterwards try a sandwich or soup in the cafe, good food and great value.

We had a great time. Loved seeing the Otters and the other animals all in a fantastic setting. Great cafe offering lunch and delicious cakes at very reasonable prices.

What a great day out we had, it rained, the wind blew and the sun shone but nothing could spoil it. I undertook the half day "keeper experience" and it was both enjoyable and fulfilling. Every member of staff were helpful and friendly, but Jay and Kirsty made sure everything exceeded my expectations....what lovely young people they are.

Go there, open your eyes, take in the amazing creatures and consider yourself priveliged.

Thanks all at the Chestnut Centre

Decided to visit as we were staying in the area. This is a lovely centre for wild animals and owls that you would normally not see. Highlight was watching the otters being fed. All the animals seem well cared for and the centre is well maintained. Clearly some animals are nocturnal so would love to visit at dusk when they are more awake. Cafe is good with a small but tasty selection of light meals. We spent 4 hours here but could have stayed longer - lovely!
