The room (Edale Suite) was a 10/10 excellent in every department and the best shower I have ever had the pleasure to use couldn't fault the room in anyway. I had read on here a few negatives regarding the service which had worried me a little but our experience was very good on arriving we ask for an ice bucket and 2 glasses and these nearly beat us to the room most impressive, slight wait for dinner booked 8 for 8.30 ended up being 9 but a lovely relaxing atmosphere good wine and a live piano made the wait very pleasant indeed with attentive and very polite staff at all times. Dinner was excellent great choice extremely good quality cooking my only moan might be the portion sizes a little small but I think that's the concept but we really enjoyed all 3 courses. Breakfast was also excellent again the same high quality food excellent service and no waiting. The hotel is very relaxing and the setting is as beautiful as it claims. Not cheap but this type of quality isn't and I think all in all is good value for money. The Spa was good it doesn't claim to be the best you will ever visit but considering the size of the hotel and some of the feed back I had read was very good and the view from the hot tub will take some beating. All in all an excellent most enjoyable stay and we will return. My only very small negative feed back to the owner was being asked to indicate a time for breakfast on arrival and being shown a time sheet which are names went on and while it was explained we didn't have to keep to this we felt slightly obliged to do so and a little rush to get down in time ... not a major issue but a little constructive criticism. Anyway I would highly recommend a stay

Room Tip: If you like big portions bring a snack or 2 .. get in the hot tub and remember its suppose to be a r...

Thank-you for the review of your stay in the Edale Suite. The booking of breakfast times is necessary because we do not offer a buffet - everything is prepared freshly and served by the team to the table - so if everyone came down at the same time it would cause delays in service - which we obviously wish to avoid wherever we can.

My wife and I went to Losehill for the her birthday. Losehill is stuck out of the way of everything and it was not easy to get too once our car broke down. We persevered and were rewarded with a very enjoyable stay. We paid a little bit extra to get a suite and found this very worthwhile as the suite was great with an ample lounge as well a superb bathroom. This is not a huge hotel or spa but it provided a nice personal service and we felt pampered. It was an experience sitting in the outside hot tub on a January afternoon looking up at Win Hill. We booked a massage each - I advise hotel guests to book before they arrive as there is a steady flow of day guests taking up appointment times. The massage was good - though I do not have the experience to judge how good. We had a splendid dinner on the evening. The dishes looked a little nouveau cuisine size but the superb ingredients and rich flavourings meant that one felt sated.

Booked a room (Edale Suite), evening meal and breakfast package with use of spa facilities. Location / view is very good even in pouring rain. Room was very nice but bed is next to window on ground floor and whilst view is great staff park cars outside of window. Blind on window would not work, reported to reception and when we came back from Spa curtains had been drawn. Blind not fixed and no explanation. Steam room in spa was out of order and no advance notification of this, also no mention of this when receptionist explained facilities? heated pool was heated but not to a pleasant level. Spa was below average and below expectation. Room was good but lacked quality touches, safe not bolted down, DAB radio with broken display and broken ariel. TV in bedroom poor quality and non working remote (reported and fixed). Not big issues but in my opinion these things are what makes the difference between good and great. This was in contrast to the restaurant and the food which was Great. From start to finish for our evening meal and our breakfast I would be unfair to pick faults. We had different choices for every course / meal and each one was well presented, high quality and very enjoyable. So in summary apply the same standards to the rest of the hotel and this would easily take it to the next level.

Thank-you for the review - I am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay and how highly you rated the food. With regards the Edale Suite - we have already started to build new local stone planters to improve the outlook and will attend to the other niggles - the DAB radio situation is so frustrating - we bought them only to find the Valley would not be getting Digital Radio!!

This is the second time we've been to Losehill, both times on a special offer deal.
The hotel is located near to Hope and Castleton in the Peak District. The views are beautiful.

On arrival, the welcome was warm and efficient and we were shown to a well appointed room with two joined twin beds forming a kingsize, The room was in a good state of repair and decor. The wardrobe contained all we needed to use the spa - gowns, towels and slippers.

The spa was clean and a pleasure to use. The small pool was a little on the cool side but OK. The small steam room and the sauna were very pleasant. The outdoor jacuzzi was warm and very inviting despite the howling wind and sleet. It was an enjoyable yet surreal experience with stunning views of the hills.

The three course meal we had was bordering on perfect with plenty of choice and the highest quality. It was modern cuisine with small but satisfying portions. We felt well fed but if a huge, heavy meal is your thing then you may feel underfed.

Worthy of note is the fact that the wine list had a good selection of Portuguese reds. Sadly a are occurrence. Also the bar had two real ales by Thornbridge - not your usual hotel keg offerings.

The staff were efficient, charming and happy.

We'll be back again when we get a good offer

Room Tip: Room 8 seems to back onto the cleaners cupboard on the 1st floor so you do get some noise at times t...

I booked a night in the hotel and spa day as a Xmas gift for my wife using travelzoo - after a positive review of the food from our nieghbours

It has to be said that first impressions werent great, when calling to make the reservation the lady on the phone was anything but helpful and genuinelny made me feel like i was putting her out of her way by trying to book a stay and organise the day.

The greeting at reception on the day wasnt at all "welcoming", being pointed to a side room and stepping over a Henry hoover to enter the bar area and wait 20 minutes for a drink that never came. When chased, another lady did bring us a drink, then procedded to open a door next to us, go outside to the cellar and leave the door wide open - i closed the door as it was freezing!!!!

We spoke to several people about thier experince at Losehill and spoke with ladies in the spa on the day, without prompt they all had the same views as us on the reception staff.

After a shoddy start, things then got better and better...........

The spa was fantastic. Clean, warm and the outdoor hot-tub was superb. The treatments were firstclass and the ladies in the spa could not do enough for us.

Lunch was amazing, the food is the real highlight of the stay and the service in the restuarant was spot on. Two courses of delicous food. Yum

Our room was beyond our expectations, large, clean, warm, comfortable well equipped and with fantastic views - could not fault it

Dinner was truly amazing, we were looking forward to it and it did not disapoint- seven courses of incredible food with impeccable service,

I would recomend this hotel to anyone (as the food, restaurant staff, room and spa are superb), but with the caveat around the reservation/ reception experience - first impressions do last!

I am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay - despite the bad start. The reception team have been very busy and unfortunately that has carried through to the customer experience at times - we will certainly endeavour to improve our first impressions on the phone and in reception - including the Henrietta!
Thank-you for the feedback

My wife and I have just returned from a three night stay with dinner and find it surprising that other
reviewers have criticised the food, service and warmth of reception. Our room was warm and confortable, breakfast and dinner truly delicious and the staff could not have been more helpful.
The location of the hotel gives you access to walks around Castleton and the caves nearby. Our visit to Peak Cavern was very enjoyable as well as instructive thanks to the very experienced guide ,Max.

This was our third visit to Losehill House and again we had an excellent stay.
The accommodation is of a very high standard, the food superb and service of a very high standard, with staff who are attentive and appropriately friendly- and the Prosecco came on time!
We had the Seven Course Taster Menu, which was excellent( we note a previous comment that the portions were too small- we felt very well satisfied, when we got to the end of all the courses!).
We are looking forward to our next visit!
