“Just Perfect”
Reviewed 8 July 2007

My wife and I have just returned from our 3rd Stay at this Hotel over the past 3 years. Once again all of our expectations were exceeded at this wonderful retreat. Our previous visits have been in the Mews cottages, we stayed In the 2 bed unit with our 2 daughters and it was fantastic, beautifully furnished and very well equipped with all you could need to have a care free break. On this occasion we stayed In the main hotel without the children, and we have once again had a really top notch stay.

Public areas are always spotlessly clean and the furnishings and decor are immaculate and tasteful. The Orangery and bar area afford beautiful uninterupted stunning views of Losehill and the countryside, a great place to unwind with a drink before or after dinner or earlier with the complimentary afternoon cream tea if you prefer. There are lovely seating areas outside the hotel, albeit the rain kept us away from them on our stay. There is a good size swimming pool a sauna and an outdoor hot tub, none of which I have ever seen too busy, we have often been the only guests using these facilities which is nice. The changing area and showers are in line with the entire hotel excellent.

Bedrooms I'm told are all slightly different, but all of a first class standard, our room had luxury bathroom with complimentary toiletries and creams, a corner bath, lovely soft towels, dressing gown slippers.Tea and coffee, safe, TV and DVD, good quality and ample wardrobe space and really classy, tasteful soft furnishings and decor plus those magnificent views.

Food is magnificent, Breakfast is fruit, cerial, croissants, porridge yoghurts , juice etc from the buffet then a selection served to your table including Haddock and eggs that looked great. I had the full English which was huge and very very nice, inc the best black pudding I have tasted. The evening meals are a real treat served in the pretty restaraunt, your starter is served to the table I had scampi my wife had French Onion soup, you then attend the buffet for the main selection, you are encouraged to return to the buffet allowing you to try the different dishes if you wish. The veg is cooked realy well and all ingredients are fresh and cooked beautifully. In particular I had the beef strogonauf which was magnificent, succulant and so tasty.

Finally I can say that all staff you meet from the owners Mary and Barry to the staff that service your rooms are wonderful. Friendly helpful and all eager to ensure your stay is the best it can be.

In conclusion If you are looking for a relaxing away from it all, immaculately maintained and welcoming hotel, In a stunning location with superb food and drink, this is the place for you. Unwind and use for a base to visit the local area or take on one of the many walks. A perfect retreat to relax , 'Kiss me quick' hats,
noisey clubbers and late night party animals would be in hell as would the residents if they arrived.

This place is fantastic, my wife have travelled extensively world wide as well as in the UK. This hotel is the only one we have returned to visit again. We will stay again next year if not before.

In a nut-shell the hotel is a combination of great location, class and quality.

This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel! It's the most relaxing place ever! Huge comfy sofas to pass the time of day on, lots of books and magazines to read and boxes filled with sweets - and creme eggs! Top that with the smell of freshly brewed coffee and the beautiful vase of lillies as well as cakes galore and what more could you want!
The bedrooms are perfect -comfy beds and gorgeous bathrooms - ours had a lovely corner bath with soft towels and all other bits and bobs you could wish for. The staff are so helpful and I think it says a lot that the same staff are still there that were there when we first visited two years ago. The owners, Mary and Barry are stars and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts and Saturday evening carvery and amazing too. With fantastic view over the hills,an outdoor hot tub, indoor pool and sauna this is an ideal place for a relaxing retreat. The village of Hope is about a mile away and there is a train station there where you can travel to Manchester or Sheffield. We ate in a lovely pub (The Nag' s Head) in Castleton on the Firday evening - £7.95 for all you can eat carvery! I have already booked to return here in May and September - it's what relaxing is all about!

My wife (at that time girlfriend!) and I stayed at this hotel not long after it first opened. It is a real gem of a place.

The location is perfect, with wonderful open countryside all around and excellent walks from the doorstep. The service is faultless - friendly, professional yet unintrusive.

It is furnished beautifully and the large yet cosy lounge area, where you can enjoy a relaxed drink in the evening and either chat to other guests, or simply read in private is one of many well thought out extras. Little homely touches, like chocolates & sweets in little boxes around the hotel, were nice surprises - if you see a box with a lid open it! Our double room was of good size, with a lovely bathroom and furnishings.

Food is buffet style in the evenings, which was of limited choice but good quality and very tasty. The swimming pool, sauna and spa are welcome after a day in the hills. Since the hotel is not too big, all of the facilities are easily accessed.

We loved our stay and would highly recommend the hotel to anyone else.

My wife and I stayed one night at this hotel whilst visiting relatives nearby.

It is in a wonderful location, beautifully furnished and decorated, the owners have obviously given every last detail great thought. We have never stayed in a hotel where everything was perfect - this one is!

We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for those adults (no children under 12 allowed) looking for a stunning tranquil location with way above average service and amenities.

LoseHill House Hotel, Hope Valley, Derbyshire, UK: "Great value way out in the countryside!"
Date: July 11, 2006
Reviewer: A TripAdvisor Member, Atlanta, GA, USA

We have just returned from hiking in the dells and moors of Derbyshire. We stayed at LoseHill House, a small hotel near the village of Hope, on a one-lane road way out in the countryside (sheep are all around in adjacent fields, and water pipes occasionally hiccup). Great views of the nearby dells, and wonderful amenities - an outdoor spa, indoor pool and sauna, a bar, a huge lounge with bar and comfortable furniture, a large menu of options for breakfast (including, but not limited to the traditional English breakfast), and terrific fresh food with many choices at the buffet dinners (not offered on Sundays).

The best part, however, is the caring attitude and helpful advice of Mary and Barry, the owners and managers, and their staff. They provided superb suggestions for our hikes, our purchases, our itineraries, and maps and directions for shortcuts that only the locals know. For those seeking a rural experience, Losehill House is a very pleasant choice.
